On the ad for that Ghost "Suitable for people 5' 4" to 6 ft." and "Frame Size:
21 in."

THIS is what give some ebike dealers a bad reputation, anyone 5'4" who bought that bike would be completely unable to ride it. I'm 6'1", and my size is usually 19" or 20", i can get away with an 18" or a 21", but they really dont fit me. I find this really annoying.
Sure. If its a 21" frame then no way would anybody under 6 foot want to ride it - I am 5-11 and I find a 19 about right. anybody at 5-4 would not get along with it at all.

I agree with the last two posts.

I'm 5' 11" and 19" is plenty for me.

The best fitting bike I've ever tried was an 18" cheapie in Halfords.

Lots of brands measure bikes in different ways and from different points. The differences can be pretty massive. Depending if the brand measures the seat tube as c2c, c2top or c2 imaginary horizontal top tube. All are used by brands.

I have been comparing this with the ktm action which is similar in specs. But £350 more for the ktm compared to the cube which is widely for under £1800 with most online bike shops. Can anyone see what the extra £350 gets you? remote lockout maybe?

Which model of KTM?

Are you also comparing the price on a like for like basis, as in both UK supplied, as the Cube in the original link was from a German discount site.
I am comparing the massive differences i have found in price between the KTM Action 29 2014 over the CUBE Hybrid 29 2014 for which a CUBE in the uk can be got for £1620 with £20 postage & 10% of the price of the bike is given back as a £162 voucher to spend on bike parts, clothes, accessories, etc from the same dealership, Which compared to the KTM Action (which i think are very similar in specs) Equates to being £1640 and a free £162 bike shop voucher for the CUBE or £2,150 for a KTM.

The math speaks volumes

There's lots of differences when you look at the detail. The forks, brakes and gears are all higher spec on the KTM, If you don't know about these things and you ride only on the road, they probably wouldn't be important to you. They both work, and they're both a decent spec for road riding. It's only when you're riding the bike to it's limits that the difference in the components will show themselves

That maybe so but £500 more plus a £162 voucher is not to be ignored lightly.
No way Has the Action got £500 more value in comparison.

It's the same argument as buying hifi. You can can get a cheap hifi that works reliably and sounds OK. You can pay a lot more to get one where you can hear a better sound, or you can pay much much more for which many people won't hear the difference, but those that know about hifi with trained ears might notice the difference. Let's say that the Cube is in the middle level, and the KTM something higher.

It's the law of diminishing returns when buying up-market, true of every product. Does a Rolex really contain £10,000 or more of content? Hardly!

just stepping in to also add. Cube are great bikes and you'll have no problem if you did get one.

however you're comparing one bike bought from a local dealer and in stock.

the other is on a German clearance website that doesn't have stock.

There are pros and cons to everything, and only you can decide whats important to you and what you want from the bike and the purchase.

I went through exactly the same dilemma KTM vs Cube (vs Haibike) when I was thinking about buying my first pedelec which would be used mostly for commuting.
I certainly wouldn't be calling KTM pedelecs much "higher end". Maybe just a bit overpriced. But that's just me.
I opted for Cube because the price difference of comparable models is quite big in favor of German brand and I really didn't think that slight spec. downsides of Cube would matter for me. With Haibike that was even more in favour of Cube.
Additionaly there was a discount I managed to procure which was notably higher for Cube.
Only thing which I noticed is somewhat lower availabilty of these bikes in general which is due to demand for Bosch's engines (as I was told) and should be sorted out in early spring.

I'd start with forks on the KTM that retail at £279.00 non discounted, compared with forks on the Cube that retail at £79.00 then just taking a brief look through the remaining components, the price soon starts to add up. They won't add up to your quoted difference, but it does show that KTM are prepared, to that little bit extra in producing a product which will do the same job, but better. I haven't looked at the other Cube bikes, but I wonder if the KTM spec actually matches the component spec of the next level of bike in the Cube model range, whatever that is.

I guess that it all very much comes down to personal choice in the end, but if I wanted to buy either I'd phone up and ask what if any discounts were available and not just take an online price.

Personally I'd go for the KTM, as firstly I'm not a fan of Cube bikes, and the several MTB reviews that I have read about them, does nothing to excite me.
After a steep learning curve in respect of E-MTB's I'd rather buy dearer, and not have to upgrade later on. But that comment is based purely on my use of the bike, and others might find that they don't need to upgrade.

17.5ah battery with impulse 2 ..can't see how for more money I get less torque and over 200watt hours less battery with kalkhoff Bosch which waswhat I had intended but impulse 2 looks miles more....hope my choice is as good what they state. Looking forward to Delivery... Report on first outing out coming soon.
