Most of us can look after a hub motor, a bit less after a Chinese mid motor.
At least replace a broken spoke. Replacing the whole motor wheel is also inexpensive if it has standard 3-pin or 9-pin connector. About £150.
New hub motors are also quieter than mid motors.
Sometime after the motor wheel on my first 2011 Emate was replaced under warranty, ie they sent me one free of charge to swap the parts over to and plug in, I bought two more complete motor wheels from them for £140, probably thinking that if the first motor failed at two years it would be a good idea. That second motor wheel however lasted 7 years and the two spar motor wheels just sat on a shelf in my garage.
However I have just used one of those motor wheels and a whole motor wheel with the right connector fitted to the bike it was designed for is a very straight forward thing to fit.
I do not think there was a lot wrong with the motor wheel I have replaced but some form of electrical connection issue had arisen with the wires that enter through the axle.
I think maybe a broken wire somewhere. For about three years it had kept working by having the cable from the motor wheel clamped down hard to the swinging arm by two tight cable ties.
