the Carrera mtb is 23.5 not sure what frame size though,
I have replaced 7 spokes on my kudos 4000 miles
bit time consuming to replace.
I asked about a test ride of carrara mtb/crossfire , was told no problem just need to book one.

would suggest mid week

Don't forget that many people post their reviews very soon after buying, which is before they notice all the problems. there's another problem you forgot to mention. We've had at least two pedal sensors go west.

I've got a Kudos Tourer, It will be 6 years old in July. The battery on it is about 5 years old and still works fine. I've not noticed much if any deterioration in its performance.

I've not had many problems with it. The twist grip gear changer failed on it and I changed it to a trigger shifter and had no problems with it after that.

I've also changed the front crank bearing on it which wasn't expensive.

I've also got a Kudos Typhoon which is more powerful and has a different type of battery. It's just over 3 years old. The battery is lighter but I don't think it will last as long as the LiFepo4 on the Tourer.

On the Tourer I've done 45 miles (once) on one battery but I've also ran it flat at 30 miles. It all depends on the type of road and how tired or fit I feel.

Thanks for all the responses, if anything I think I've convinced myself not to buy either. The v brakes on the Kudos don't seem strong enough for my weight and the amount of problems being reported with the Crossfire is worrying. I think I may look at converting my Subway.

Cheers.

I've never noticed any problems with the Tourer's V brakes stopping me. The Typhoon has cable operated disk brakes and I think I prefer the V brakes.

I've only got about 2500 miles on the Typhoon as I'm splitting my time between 3 bikes.

As to fitting the Tourer battery to your Uno, ironically, I fitted a holder for the Typhoon battery to my Tourer. It gives me more range if I need it. :)

If anyone is interested I've just noticed the Crossfire now has 10% off, add British cycling membership to this and it's £890.

and if you can get that on the cycle2work scheme even better. Despite it's niggles, I still think it's a cracking bike. Yes I've had the cutouts, and lost a few spokes, no biggy, still a great ride for not much cash. Mines just clocked over 3K km since Aug last year

I have 2 of these crossfire and do rate them. Mine is 12 months old and never had a cut-out and the Mrs bike is about 6 months old and had 2 cut outs. Not a big issue just push the button on the battery to get it going again. No-one seems to know the cause. For the money they are a great buy. I haven't ruled out converting my specialised with a kit, but found the kit suppliers to be a little 'hit and miss'.

Cheers for all the responses, since the bike was on offer I decided to have test ride, it was great. The balance and ease of pedalling was amazing, it was so easy to peddle even without power. I'm taking the plunge and ordering one.

Just picked up my new Crossfire, got it on sale at £990 and then 10% off for BC membership £891. Cheers for all the advice.

One question for Crossfire owners, the computer seems to turn itself on after I switch it off, what am I doing wrong, I think it's in backlit mode.

Picked up a new Crossfire about a month ago, gutted as I missed out on the recent sale. So far no issues with cut outs or it turning on etc. but have only covered 60 miles. My 14 mile round trip commute uses around 30% of the battery but I don't sit at 15 mph so don't use the motor the whole time.

Cheers for the responses, I like the sound of the LiFeP04 and don't understand why more manufacturers don't use them, they must have some downsides? I do like the Kudos tourer as it's my style of ride, but as footpump mentions, I'm a little worried about the V brakes, being a large unit I take some stopping once I get going, especially down hill. Though I never had a problem on my old style racer in the 80's. Any thoughts on them?
Kudos made the decision of using LifePo4 on all its bikes, the batteries have very long life, some used in weather stations are now 20 years old. Many Kudos customers have bikes 6 years old and LifePo4 still going strong.
But LifePo4 has a low energy density,in other words it is heavy, the market demanded lighter bikes and therefore we had to change to lighter chemistry with shorter life. I am afraid that the market, especially in the UK,placed more emphasis on bike lightweight than battery life,LifePo4 is still very popular in Holland where heavier bikes are accepted as the norm.
We have always been very fair on our replacement costs of our batteries but don't supply that many replacements. Whatever the chemistry my experience is that owners tend to change their bikes after a few years so battery replacement is not relevant.
KudosDave
