There are 4 battery indicator lights on the carrera crosscity bike I would expect as the battery discharges they would reduce from 4,3,2,1 then the battery would be flat mine goes fro 4 to 0 nothing then battery is flat does this mean there is something wrong with the indicator mechanism or the battery?

Does the bike work properly, and have the expected range? Is this a new problem or always been like that? Any other useful info?

Thanks, bike is brand new and in all other respects the bike works fine although it doesn’t like pot holes very much but who does

This is not an uncommon criticism of ebikes. Sometimes you have an indicator on the handlebars and the battery itself and the battery one is the accurate one because the circuit in the battery knows exactly the state of the discharge of the cells but the one on the handlebars is more of a guess. Maybe it will improve as the battery ages and has gone through a few more charge cycles.

The only sure way of knowing the battery state or soc is to have a voltage reading showing or for capacity a wh reading, one reason why kt's are good is they have a voltage reading to indicate the soc. Leds are pretty unreliable to manage a batteries capacity.

If it is Brand New, you need to talk to the supplier as soon as possible, as telling him that its been like that since you bought it, in say 6 months, is NOT going to win you any new friends now is it!!

My daughters Pendleton (2017 Halfords) came with a Phylion Battery with 'smart BMS' which featured a 'coloumb counter' that is suppose to give an accurate reading. However, (according to instructions) the battery needed to go through a couple of charge/discharge cycles for this to calibrate/work properly.
