I’m wondering why this has taken off so much. Bemused at the moment. Airlines will go into bankruptcy soon apparently

The Coronavirus is a gift that just keeps on giving:
1) Large scale deaths helping to solve the overpopulation problem, particularly with a report that the virus reduces male fertility.
2) Paralysing business and keeping people shut indoors, so offsetting the consumer society.
3) Less traffic with people staying home and using home delivery, so dealing with the pollution problem.
And now with all the above, the chance that airliners will be grounded for a very long time, drastically reducing the causes of climate change.
We should perhaps grab this opportunity to make it all permanent, thus solving global warming, climate change, pollution, plastics consumption and the population problem in one go!

I know a lot of you are very fit and active and do not fit the profile.
But this is real. 475 died from it in Italy alone today. And the scary thing is it was mainly confined to the their 'ground zero'
But anyone over 70 please take this seriously.
My opinion is this spikes hugely here in the next 4 days.

Yes Fingers it is extremely serious. But no it will not peak in the UK ..at least not for a number of weeks. The UK will have an exponential rises into the millions , with tens of thousands of deaths , due to not closing schools earlier. Its not that the children will die, but their Grannies will.
Around 500,000 people die in England each year, and it is predicted that this will rise to 590,000 within the next 20 years. Heart failure and stroke are the biggest killers. One in four people in the UK will die of cancer.
thats like 1400 ppl die per day anyway in the uk yet we not even at 200 dead yet and been weeks and i bet not one of them has died from controller virus on its own.

true but not 500,000 die in hospitals.
we are only two weeks behind Italy, one week behind Spain and a couple of days behind France.
We will have to tough it out for months to come. The team at Imperial College London predicted that with measures we have taken, it will continue to get worse from now to Christmas and even maybe beyond.
Forget brexit, how we are going to live through that time when you see that in Spain, people are even forbidden to ride their bikes.
this corona virus not like seasonal flu. It's more like the whole human species is hit by aliens with biological weapons.

In January this year, Italy reported that since flu season started in October 2019, over 2 million cases of flu were recorded, resulting in 240 deaths. Most of these fatal cases were elderly patients who suffered complications as a result of the virus.
