My partner has become a fan of my e-bike and now wants her Specialized converted to electric. What's our best bet for a motor hub and controller that would suit this bike? The bike has Shimano discs on the back, plus an 8 cog cassette and these would need to fit onto the new hub. She wants to stay road legal, so the usual 250w/15mph limits apply. Range doesn't need to be colossal - a 12Ah battery pack should do the trick.

Looks like a decent kit. Just one problem, the bike's brakes are hydraulic - apparently the supplied cut off switches only work with cables. Is there a workaround for this?

one possible work around is to replace the rear caliper with one that is cable operated.

Or getting the one from alienexpress which is a reed switch that detects the motor of the brake lever

Hi Axolotl,

We offer several brands of conversion kit a minimum of 2 years warranty, but if your budget is £500, the Woosh kit is the one to go for.

We just fitted one for a customer today, the downside I found was the excessive amount of cable and squeezing everything into the large controller box.

Eclipsebikes sell brake swtichs for hyraulic brakes or use/adapt the hall sensor and magnet with wiring from the cheapo brake levers with the hydarulic ones, just needs alittle thought and imagination. Input brake switch in the search ( Q ) and read the various threads there on them.

I do like your kits, John, but I'm afraid the budget is a bit too tight.
