Hi, Iv got a KT 45amp controller. just want to confirm that diffrent PAS levels have different current percentages so if I use a throttle is it the same as PAS level 5 which is 100% current. because the max continuous amp of my battery is 30Amps
That depends on setting P3. P3=1 is current control. P3= 0 is speed control. You want P3=1.Hi, Iv got a KT 45amp controller. just want to confirm that diffrent PAS levels have different current percentages so if I use a throttle is it the same as PAS level 5 which is 100% current. because the max continuous amp of my battery is 30Amps
I think mines used the latter programing, but how would I be sure it does?STOP !!!
Ahmed you need to alter C5 current setting other wise you will shag the battery out, at 45a it will try and draw that from the battery and the cells/interconnectors will get very hot and could even short circuit.
Short circuit means flames = fire and exploding battery.
C5 needs setting so it doesn't exceed 30a current draw 25a would be safer.
KT's use two different current reduction rates (programming) you will have to know which one yours uses.
If yours uses the older programming then you can only reduce current by -5a to 40a which is very unsafe and unwise to use the bike. If you have the latter programming then C5/03 will reduce current by 50% to 22.5a draw or C5/04 will reduce current by 33.5% to 29.25a
As for PAS P3/1 is current control.
Approx. PAS current draw.
PAS1. 13%.
PAS2. 20%.
PAS3. 33%.
PAS4. 50%.
PAS5. 100% as is throttle.
The LCD should display watts. Current = watts/volts.I think mines used the latter programing, but how would I be sure it does?
I set it to 30 amps and its giving me around 1400 watts on the lcd, would 22.5 be enough for the 1500W motor? I too am abit on the heavy side at 93 kgsVersion number on the display or any instructions with said display.
Set P5 /03 and see what the max watts are, divide that as vfr mentions by the battery voltage and hopefully it will be about 22.5a max or and inline watt meter.
I set the the max output to 30amps on the controller, the C5 setting. most batteries here in the uk have low continuous amps, best ones with 50amps or more are found on aliexpress or dhgateNo if you want to utilise the power, the battery is underrated for the controller that's for sure if 30a is the continuous rating.
