Contact spray for control unit

I occasionally have problems with my Xion control unit and the other day I almost got stranded a long way from home. I got the triangle with a 'C' in the middle indicating a communication fault. This happens sporadically without any apparent reason. The manual mentions using contact spray on the control unit connectors when problems occur. Has anyone had a similar problem and what contact spray would you recommend?

WD40 electrical contact cleaner. I had a couple of trips recently where I had to take the display on and off a few times because the bike kept powering down before I could even get on it. I cleaned the contacts and it cured the problem.
I also use the same spray on the battery connections, both bike and battery.

Note - WD40 is a brand name. I don't mean WD40 penetrating spray, it is the electrical contact cleaner you want.

I've used Holts from eurocarparts and that seems ok. As long as they leave no residue they are probably all similar.

Thank you Darren and awol. I've ordered WD40 contact cleaner. Hopefully fewer problems with my control unit after using it.
