SSL certificates can no longer be updated, one of the offline Firefox ESR (or another offline browser install) installers might run (Firefox contains it's own SSL certs). You could start with the latest and work your way back, looking for one which does install and run. I still run an old Firefox ESR on one of my XP music making machines. But it won't be safe, and eventually all SSL certs will expire without renewal. A lot of Android devices running Kitkat went dark last year, borked forever because of expired certs, no more internet for most of those, despite remaining capable hardware. Right to repair should extend to software IMHO, with old OS going open source, which will never happen because "New" OSs often include a lot of old code. Forcing old OSs to become open source would mean new OSs would have to be genuinely new, instead of mutton dressed up as lamb.

That'll lower resale value, if nothing else is damaged while sorting that out.

you need to upgrade Mac OS to install win 10x64. Unless you absolutely need the two to work together, buy a second hand windows PC or laptop saves a lot of bother.

latest version is 10.15 Catalina. If you can't update, you can't use Boot Camp assistant beyond win7x32

ill let the buyer pi$$ about with it if they want windows its just getting all the drivers to work again.

i have got the win 7 discs somewhere in the attic so can sell them with it and a dvd drive but it should boot from a usb stick if crapple has not bricked it from working like bootcamp.

Looks fiddly. I'd use 90% isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) and make certain layers applied with it are dried thoroughly before contacting each other. And use ultra soft lint free cleaning pads.

Reminds me, must look for a new board for one of my displays, which isn't as easy as one might want - last time I looked for a replacement display board, it cost more than a new display.

That's great! Did you start the installation on a PC and put the disk back into the mac?
