I expect this topic has been well about the houses on here. But, hey ho, am new to ebiking, so here goes...

If riding regularly, say a daily work commute of 20km, as such, can you and do you maintain good fitness, get good heart BPM rates up, et al? Or is it, an ebike ride really is a ride in the park, as one would say?

Overtime your fitness will improve but without the sweaty, headsdown, neckstraining, I'm not slowing down even for red lights, scowly faced misery of the unassisted rider.
Life on an e-bike is actually enjoyable:cool:

I used to have to push my pedal bike up the hills near me. I let my ebike take the strain and put on weight.

You can ride it like you stole it or take things easy, all up to you. I lost about 4 kg the first few weeks.
