What other type of tandem are you thinking of cwah?
The eZee powered one shown can fold in seconds, the rear battery rack has load capacity of 10Kg and the 14Ah battery weighs 3.8 Kg. If you didn't like that arrangement, 1 or 2 water bottle mount batteries could be fitted:)

The others shown above either don't fold or are not tandems and the racks on the Donky bike are not designed to carry passengers and probably won't have the load carrying capacity for an adult:confused:

I dont know if the Donky will carry a passenger but the racks are atached by quick releases and with the right sized square tubing you could make any kind of addon "rack" you liked and switch as needed.
If they were cheap and in Oz I would be tempted as I love small wheeled bikes and convertion would be so easy.
And I bet the racks would keep cars further away especially with a fruit crate on them. :)

There's no way I'd ever get the Donkey bike. It's not suitable to carry a passenger and it's too wheelie prone.

Same for your Tandem John, there is an obvious fault on this bike and battery rack on seat post has never worked for more than several months. They do NOT withstand bike vibrations. I had 3 of them when I started ebiking who broke within few months. The one from D8veh and few other in the forum had their one who broke too. Do not accept seat post battery mounting!

The tandem you're showing is just not designed to be electric and the way it's mounted does not allow long term usage.


All the others bikes, including the juicy bike (but waaayy too expensive) would fit as cargo/tandem bike to carry a passenger. I do not need the passenger to pedal :p

As I said previously, you could have bottle mount batteries on the frame, but to be perfectly honest cwah, and although I disagree with what you say about the tandem, I'm glad that you don't want it. I do however wish you good luck in your search for the Holy Grail;)

I believe the construction and use says " constructed to carry more than 1 person " is not someone having a " backie" on a set of pegs
and does not mention whether the passenger has to pedal - Otherwise child carriers would be illegal !
Might find 250 watts a bit low to carry a couple of people But I'm sure one of the technical bods will confirm that

Hey patpatbut, I do not want a lateral folding mechanism. It's good to fold the bike in a car but absolutely not in a lift or any compact area with people.

I don't think it would work very well especially if I add battery on the side of the bikes and 2 motors...

Something smaller is definitely more appropriate. Like the one from the first picture of the post!

Absolutely, I'm considering that!

That makes me think again about the stability issue I had with my bikeseat setup:


Maybe I shall get a bike with fat tyre and long base to convert with a bike seat again as best option?
