I don't understand. You took your bike to the bike shop and they found the problem, but didn't fix it? It's a one minute job to fix.

Did you find the issue or the shop ?

I haven't taken the bike to the shop yet - I located the issue myself.

Very good, the cheapest of repairs then. An unscrupulous shop may have charged you for unnecessary work, esp during these times.

Yes, I just took it to the shop afterwards to see if they would sort it, but they said they'd have to book it in, so I left (had no intention of booking it in as I know it's simple job). Just need to get the tools to do it myself or Halfords would do it and probably not charge, if it's too tight.

Thanks

Thanks richtea99
You do not need any new parts. It's a very quick and simple adjustment. A reasonable cost for sorting it would be a fiver, but they try and sting you with minimum charges. At the shop, it would have been quicker to fix it than find their booking in book or computer and book you in. Some people are just plain daft.

Yes, I agree. It was altered by a shop to raise handlebars when I first brought the bike and I wasn't charged for it. I didn't get a good impression from this local shop and knew they were trying to rip me off. I know no parts are needed, I just don't have the spanner, plus not sure which size I should get and if it's too tight like the back wheel bolt I won t be able to do it myself - I'm not very strong lol.

I'm not sure where you live, but if someone on the forum lives nearby, they may be willing to help you.

(I'm not sure how that goes down with admins/rules on this site, etc, but it happens regularly on the motorbike forum I administer. There is a conversation option here which appears to be private - for exchanging details - but I've never tried it.)

I'm not sure of the rules on this, but I'll look into it. I'm in London, but it's not a problem taking bike to Halfords - they've always been helpful.

Thanks
