I am having trouble getting Ciclotek to sort out a warranty issue, they seem to be giving me the run around. has anyone else had problems? I have been using their BPM CST e-bike Motor Kit 36v for 6 months until it failed showing an error message indicating a failed hall sensor. Before it failed it was a great conversion.

The problem is that a hall sensor can be damaged by misuse or bad installation. They don't just pack up. Typical causes are:
Stretched motor wires where they come out of the axle.
Damaged motor wires where they come out of the axle.
Motor connector not fully inserted to the line.
Hall sensor connector fault at the controller end.
Water in the motor (axle installed the wrong way up).

There's probably nothing wrong with your motor. Check the above things and report back. It's fairly easy to check the hall sensors so that you can find out exactly where the problem is.it helps if you have an ebike tester that you can get from Ebay for a few quid.

I forgot to mention that the motor is making a terrible noise when power is applied. I have checked the connections and visually they all look good, the motor is the right way up and has done about 600 dry miles. The cable is not stressed (pulled tight). I will look into a motor tester, if it will connect to their plug. It would be good if Ciclotek would just talk to me.

With a faulty hall sensor or faulty connection, the motor will make a lot of noise, like it's about to fall apart.

You can test your hall sensors with a voltmeter too. What connector do you have to the controller?

A friend og me had the same problem as you with a bafang 250w motor. The problem was water in the motor like D8veh mention above. He had to open the motor twice before it was ok.The first time he didnt make sure it was completely dry inside before he tried it

Yes that sounds very frustrating. If all else fails, post back here for l*gal help, but I think it's v much worth following D8veh's instructions first. It won't prejudice your position.

After more investigation I found that the inside of the control box (circuit board) is corroded although I never use the bike in the rain. Just about to put it back together!

Where's your controller located? Can we see a picture?

Just a thought but when I blew a FET or two in my controller it made the motor make truly horrible noises.

If you have corruson /water in controller this could short something and blow a FET

Maybe a new controller will fix the issue. Not expensive to do.
