charging up battery

Hi I have a 36V lithuim Battery and to be fully charged it has to go up to about 42V, I tend to keep charging it up after every trip, like today I checked voltage and it says 39V so only used 3V is it right or wrong to keep charging after every trip. even a small journey

Wrong. When charged to 100% battery is in most volatile state. Charge to 100% before long ride if you have to. There is no need too charge from 95% to 100% if you are planning only few miles trip to supermarket.

Personally if only doing small trips no need to keep charging every time , if it is hilly terrain then I would say yes but if not no.

I charge my 44v battery to its 50.4v max and often only charge again when down to it's nom voltage of 44v or a bit lower for local use. Quite a lot of my local usage are only 4 mile trips.

Ok thanks for that, have taken note. so whats lowest voltage you would start charging up as most of my trips are only 4 miles in total its a 36V battery so obviously it is 42V fully charged

It depends on the BMS's lvc, a 36v battery though can generally be taken down to 30 - 33v . When I buy or build a new battery I always take it down to lvc once just to know the lowest cut out voltage in use, the voltage usually rebounds a little higher as well .
Typically though there is little point in going much lower then 35v or 36v if riding locally , the extra capacity below 35/36v comes in handy as reserve for longer rides if a spare battery isn't used.
37.5v - 38.5v (storage voltage) is a good voltage to leave the battery at if not being used for a while.

Thanks for that so basiclly once i have used 6v as full charge is 42v
