charger mishap is brown pos or - on lead from charger to battery

the ebike gremlins are giving me a hard time this week.
today charging up my bottle battery, battery still on bike, I forgot it was charging and moved the bike,

which wrenched part of the connecter at the battery end of cable apart.
I have another charger same spec. but have a connecter which fits battery lead and bottle , cut end of lead off

to find its blue&brown wire not too sure whichis positive I believe its brown but thought id better check

Be very careful as on my German caravan Blue is positive and brown is negative!
So, either check with a meter or wait till someone with more definitive knowledge is here to advise.

I was assuming on a charger to battery lead it would be DC not AC ?

You can have blue positive and brown negative or brown positive and blue negative. You must check with a meter to see which way round yours is.

thanks all having googled this query before posting that pos/neg can be either brown or blue as pointed out by d8veh,
first chance to use my ebay multimeter probes with various attatchments.

not sure what multimeter should be set too chose 750acv
got reading of 000 or 096? depending on wether blue or brown.

then set to 1000 dc
neg to brown cable pos to blue gives reading of -000

pos to brown neg to blue gave reading 041.

in truth I am still not sure if brown is positive or not so double checking ?
brown is the wire furthest away in pics.

Set your meter to 200 DCV, if you get a - reading, you have +/- the wrong way round.

meter set to 200 dc red probe on brown, black probe on blue reading is ok

red probe on blue/black probe on brown a minus reading

so as red probe is + brown must be the positive wire

have affixed connecter to charger but not tried with a battery at the mo
