Hi all, I've just registered and put a posting on the 'introduction' thread but have a specific question which you may be able to help me with.

We have a couple of Evora 20" folding bikes and they are great however there is one thing that I wondered if it was possible to do something about, namely the power level.

The Evora has 3 modes: throttle only, pedal assist, and no power, however the pedal assist only has one power level which kicks in about a second after starting to pedal, which isn't a problem, but then it is either all or nothing. The amount of power itself can't be adjusted as you can with bikes which have 3 power level settings (low/medium/high) but I was wondering if it was possible to 'add' this facility to the bikes? I've done some reading up about 'controllers' but to me it just appears to be a replacement for the existing one, but doesn't also include the handlebar mounted 'power selector pad' and obviously I don't know if such a thing exists either.

So, has anyone done this, of knows if someone has done it, or if it can feasibly be done? As there's another chap with a couple of these bikes who would like to do the same thing as me I'm hoping there is a solution to this minor problem.

Thanks in advance.

You have to replace the controller with something like a KU65 from BMSBattery (cheapest - with three levels) or a S06S plus LCD (best quality - 5 levels). Both of them would require a small amount of wiring.

Many thanks d8veh, I note that BMS Battery is in America, is there a UK based company that do them?

They're in China. I don't know of anybody that does anything like that in UK, but you sometimes see them on Ebay.

With the best will in the world the Evora is a very low spec cheap bike

That small 6.6ah battery won't last you very long either

What I mean to say is that you are probably better off putting up with the bike you have and, when the battery or something else packs up, then spend the money and get the bike you know know you want ! Ie 3 speed minimum (woosh, kudos, ezee etc)
