Fortunately, I just caught a thread entitled The Kudos Ambassador Scheme this morning before it fell victim to the censors.
For those that didn't get the chance to read the thread in its entirety, the salient point is that a person posting under the name of Whoare was making disparaging comments about trade members and their business practices. The excellent Kudos Ambassador scheme was subjected to some particularly nasty accusations and comments.
The content of some of Whoare's posts raised suspicion that he or she is in fact a trade member of the forum who is posing as a regular forum member under the cloak of a false username. Whoare is then using the deception of his or her false identity to gain a business advantage over his or her rivals.
Here is a link to the posts made by Whoare together with the likes that he or she has given. Read Whoare's posts and see if you can come to any conclusion.
Whoare has gone very quiet and he or she has been on the forum within the last 90 minutes. Whilst ever this sort of suspicion lingers, I think that it undermines the credibility of the forum and tarnishes the experience for all of us. I know that the the forum owners can administer the site however they see fit, but they would own nothing were it not for members contributions.
The Whoare situation is a bit of an insult to all of us, I have liked some of his or her posts, and he or she has commented and liked some of my posts. It might sound ridiculous, but the idea of having been duped at a very low level by a trade member sits uneasily with me.
I hope that we get answers to this from the moderators of the forum. They must be able to compare IP addresses used by Whoare to the IP addresses used by trade members to see if there is any correlation. The list of suspects is not long and it is now 24 hours since the thread was locked. I really hope this one does not go away, because if a trade member is responsible for this, they need identifying. Don't let this issue slide down the forum pages and out of sight, forgotten. The administrators owe the members that much for supporting their forum.
In the meantime, if anyone feels that the circumstantial evidence is pointing in their direction, would they just take 30 seconds to come on here and put our minds at rest by telling us that it isn't them, or apologise if they have made an error of judgement.
This forum isn't the place it used to be and I'm afraid that I am liking it less and less.
