Think I’ll pop down to screw fix at some point.
Does this one look like it will be ok for E-Bike diagnosis?

Probably, but do not expect it to be as accurate as a better one might be at say around the 36 volts area....if you can, measure the same voltage with a known good meter and that cheap one, and note and monitor any possible differences for future reference....
IMHO, it should be within say 1 volt accuracy of the good meter on a charged 36 volt battery...as a general guide.... Each voltage range needs to be compared with the good meter.
Low ranges should be far closer to the good meter.
Even cheap meters usually manage that....
I keep two cheapo's to lend out, as I trust nobody with my good equipment!
That is a "Fluke" one might say!! ;) ;)
The cheap ones are both within 0.5 of a volt to the good meters....on a 36 volt battery.
Close enough for government work!!
regards
Andy

2 1/2 week wait for warranty repair. 3 month for a full replacement. Only electrics covered and the actual crank isn't, but from what I have research it sounds like a torque sensor issue

Being within 1v is no good at all all my cheap ones read to 0.01 or 0.02v as well and agree with my lcd3 voltage reading.

Did you check that it's in all the way to the marked line because they can be tight without being in far enough.
I have pushed the connector in as far as I physically can! Comes up to the line, but not over it and it doesn't feel like it "snaps" in place.

Also, when taking the cap off where the cable runs into the motor it doesn't look all that secure. When wiggling the cable with the walk assist button pressed the motor sporadically kicks in. Possibly a break in the cable me thinks.

I also picked up the multi-meter after dropping my little one off this morning. I'll get some battery readings at lunch.

Pull back the spring and see if the cable has been nicked by the edge of the axle. If it is, you'll need a replacement motor - about £100 from Aliexpress or you can sometimes find used ones on Ebay.

Did you drop the bike at any time or bash the cable by any other means?

Nope, never been dropped and it’s always rested on its stand. The cable doesn’t look nicked, but when moving it about and holding the walk button the motor engages sporadically. Think it may be a break in the cable somewhere.

just for future reference. When checking the voltage of the battery, how do you do it!?
I have 5 terminals and don’t know where to stick my multimeter! Don’t want to blow the battery!

You can't blow anything with the meter by poking the wires in the wrong place, except when you set the meter to measure mA and try to measure voltage.

It's normally the outer two. Sometimes the outer two on each side are paired up. For Vulcan and Crossfire bikes, I don't think you can measure the battery like that, but the Vengeance has a cheaper and simpler electrical system.

Hi vfr400,

I have a 2017 Crossfire, that orginally had a E21 problem, and I'm pleased to say it fixed itself by simply replacing the tourque sensor with the orginial one.

So the issue I have is the motor gives no pedal assist, and the cable has a small nick in it. So I was hoping you might be able to point me in the direction of a suitable replacement motor off AliExpress.

Thanks in advance

In theory, you can use any motor, but your frame is designed specifically for the Suntour one that has anti-torque lugs, so I'm not too sure how other motors would fit. You'd need to show clear photos of the drop-outs.

Your photo of the nicked wire is out of focus. can you see bare copper in there?

Sorry for the delay in reply, and I’m pleased to confirm that NO copper is visible, and as the photos show, the red and green cables on the inside are visible and seem untouched.

I also added a multimeter to my tool box, but it lacked prongs, so I’ll get it tomorrow (today), and let you know what info it indicates.

And I can confirm dropout measure is 162mm, which definitely seems to be a very unique size.

What is that on the Red 5v hall wire ?
Is it a mark or broken outer sheath ?
162mm rules out most hubs as the axles aren't simply long enough.
