Whichever version you have, it's behind the chainwheel. There are two types of sensor.

The early version was a magnet disc and hall sensor. If you have that type, the gap has to be an even 1mm or so, and it can easily get knocked out of position. The other potential problem is that it becomes loose on the shaft if it gets jammed by debris. Put a finger on it when turning the pedals to make sure it's still gripping the shaft. If your finger stops it, you need to take it off and put some tape on the shaft to make it tight again or hot-melt glue works. check the cable for damage too, as it's vulnerable when the chain comes off, as is the magnet disc too.

The later type is optical and gets dirt in it, or the cable gets chaffed or pulled when the chain comes off. If the cable looks OK, you have to unscrew it from the back of the chain-wheel and clean out the slots with a paintbrush or similar. You can test that everything else is working by disconnecting the sensor and bridging the red and yellow pins in the connector, which should make the motor run full speed. That doesn't work with the magnetic sensor.

hi

thank you for the reply

it is like a little rubber thing with a red and white wire and a red led

looks like the rubber thing has come off the screws and the red wire is broken off

is this a write off?

Show us a photo. Your description doesn't make sense. Whatever it is, it's replaceable or fixable.

It's a normal pedal sensor that you can buy from Ebay or Aliexpress. Look at the pictures and try to get an identical one because you can unscrew the sensor from the bracket and swap it to the beacket on your bike, which will save a lot of work.

If you can't get an identical one, you'll need to get a crank puller and bottom bracket tool to remove your present one

Unfortunately, your photos are too blurred for me to identify which type you have.

Does the 3 year cover mean they take 3 years do do any repairs?

More seriously, good luck, I hope they fix it.

You get a no claims bonus with it, i.e the bonus is that you can't claim for any fault that would actually happen.
