Carrera-E charger connector.

I would like a second charger and none available on ebay lately and Halfords are either too expensive and/or no stock.
Is it possible to use another charger ( much cheaper) and get a connector as per the :
Suntour Battery Charger EBBC16-PH3602B

Does anyone know the name of the 5 pin connector and would it be available anywhere?

The connector looks very similar to the professional audio connectors and will be available in any Maplins..
The concern would be what is being carried on three of the five connections? Obviously one is ground, and one ..at least .. is power at up to 42 v. The remaining connections can be any combination of .. paralleled power, interlocking to allow power only after the connector is mated, or battery source and sense of even a digital communications link.

Not really. One of those other pins "handshakes" with the battery to know it's a genuine Phylion (Sans/Joycube) charger. The other two pins are used to stop charging if the battery overheats or overcharges. You need the Sans charger for the Phylion SF-06 with the "XH" model suffix (which has the extra chips), or the Phylion SF-03 "M" charger - which (although a different design internally) has the same 5-pin connector, uses identical parameters, and in my tests, seems to work just as well. These chargers are more common in Europe: I've bought new ones in the past for under £30, inc. shipping (although they do come with a European mains plug so you'd need to cut that off and fit a UK one yourself).

You need to look for European e-bike resellers that stock popular European brands that use Bafang motors/Phylion batteries: e.g. German Fischer, Italian Bianchi, Austrian Puch, Romanian Devron (there may even be UK resellers of these brands - or even some UK e-bike brands that use these same batteries/chargers that can supply the same model charger).

The European supplier I last used doesn't have any stock left of the item I purchased: But here's one that may be okay: https://www.insportline.eu/23164/charging-adapter-devron-sf-03-for-electric-bikes You may want to check with them first that it's suitable for your Phylion/Joycube SF-06 battery, which they do also sell.

Looking at that sellers website, Devron e-bikes use several Phylion battery types, including the SF-03, SF-06 and SF-06s.

The 5-pin round connector used on the SF-03 battery is exactly the same as the SF-06. The voltage, charge rate, handshaking, overheat parameters for both batteries (checking Phylion specifications) also appears the same. insportline's website description for their charger says "It is compatible with all rechargeable batteries SF-03 for Devron electric bikes and another battery suitable with the same parameter".

A charger for an SF-06s battery as you enquired about is different though; the battery looks similar, but it is physically bigger/longer, the LED/Button arrangement is on the side rather than the top, and it uses a different 5-pin D-shaped connector.

I've got Phylion chargers sold for both SF-03 and SF-06 batteries, and an SF-03 charger on an SF-06 battery seems to me to work equally well. I'm sure there will be other resellers with either or both chargers though (Phylion do claim to be the second largest e-bike battery supplier in Europe)...

The Crossfire-e battery is a Phylion SF-06 battery with the same connector/charge parameters as the Phylion SF-03. So I would say insportlines SF-03 charger should work fine... but it would have been nice if the Devron seller knew enough to confirm that.

I have emailed them to ask. The online chat was with the sports advisor so I was not convinced by her answers. I may order one. I can always return it !

Hello, yes, SF-03 and SF-06 have the same circle connector with 5 pins (I tried a charger from Devron 27225, which has SF-06 battery, on Devron 28126, that has SF-03 battery, and it fits - and the actual chargers of those two bikes are quite alike, they have the same input/output parameters). However SF-06S has trapezoidal shape of the connector.

So if my Carrera-e has a SF-06 battery then this SF-03 is the correct one. Do you concur cyclebuddy ? If so I will order it.

There you go then... confirmation. I've just got back from my holiday home in Norfolk, and just checking my own SF-03 charger: The box (and charger) look identical to the normal Halfords/Phylion SF-06 charger, except the charger has a different model number, and the box has a sticky label on it that says "Devron SF-03"... but in all other respects, it's identical and works perfectly.

25 euros + 7 euros shipping = £28.... against Halfords £65/£100? It's a no-brainer.

Most interesting discussion and info. For my Crossfire e I have jumped on your bandwagon and ordered, received and tested the £28 total SF-03. The specification on the bottom is exactly as my original Halfords/Phyllion charger.
