Carrera Crossfire Fault

Finding my (electric) wheels

Hello.
This is really doing my head in

I have 2 older crossfires, one is rough but working, and one I bought with a E42 fault.

I have one of the chinese testers and have made cables to plug into the motor to test

I found that the E42 was caused by the motor wires broken where the cable enters the wheel.
I bought a julet extension cable, and cut it and soldered half to the wheel electrics, and the other half to the controller.
Switched it on, and I still had the fault.
Thought the controller had a burnt smell, so assumed it must have shorted out when the motor wires broke.
Got another controller which the seller said was from a working bike, and I soldered it in.
Now got a E34 fault - battery over voltage ?
Now comes the odd bit, I swapped the wheel and controller from the working bike and got the same fault.
Tried swapping the display, bracket and cable, and still the same.
Put the repaired wheel and controller onto the rough working bike, and now that works okay.
Using the same battery on both bikes, and even tried swapping the battery mounting bracket, and another battery.
The only part that has not been swapped out is the torque sensor.
Any ideas because this is really odd?
Thanks. Ian

Problem solved now.

The E34 fault, which says battery over voltage actually turned out to be the Torque sensor, and the bike is now working fine with a new one fitted.

Should have come up on the display with an E21 or even an E22 but it didn't.

A lesson has been learnt now, and hopefully, my troubles will help anyone else with this problem.

Thanks.Ian
