Whilst I was attending the Canton Fair I decided to have a look round the bike area, mostly e-bikes. The bike section of the fair seems to reduce every year,I think the bigger bike suppliers prefer Taipei or Shanghai (which is in a couple of weeks time).
To be honest I didn't see much new, there were the usual Dutch style bikes but now favouring using the Bafang mid drive unit,Aigeni had the orange and grey carbon bike that was discussed recently on this forum,it had the Bofeili mid drive motor which I am uncertain as to long term reliability from such a small company.
Many of the stands attempted to produce 'baby' folding bikes, but they were usually complex to fold and mostly quite heavy despite the small size and tiny wheels. My prime reason to be there was not bikes, the rest of the fair just gets bigger every year,5 days is not enough to walk it .
I know other forum members are visiting Shanghai ,so maybe they will reveal something more interesting, the Chinese e-bike business which is available to all to see seems to have reached a plateau in design terms at the moment,Kudos is working on new designs for 2016 but Canton did not show much new,
KudosDave
