Can someone explain how a 350W motor can be limited to 250W?

I think we all need to lighten up a bit.

There is room for people with all levels of knowledge on the Forum.

If you don't like or are not interested in a particular thread, why not just skip over it like you would a TV programme.

Having said that, it would be good to be able to start new threads in the Technical section and maybe also have one purely for conversions?

I seldom post but am an avid reader of this forum. I feel moved to post now to say that I have been enjoying reading it much more since Jeremy has returned bringing with him some great technical explanations of things that have long puzzled me. It is so much better than reading opinions, often based on the premise that "it costs more so it must be better"; or " if it's German it must be good".

Anyway, let's ban all technical content just in case it dilutes the opinion to the extent that someone might learn something!

Following the initial puzzlement over themutiny's post, I thought of posting an explanatory answer last night but thought it probably wouldn't be appreciated.

With further comment since I thought it might be helpful to attempt an explanation, but since that's clearly been met with misunderstanding or sarcasm I was probably right in the first place.

FWIW, as soon as I read themutiny's critical post I immediately sent a PM with a sincere apology and offer to edit out whatever I'd posted that had caused offence.

I have not received a reply.

Quite how one is supposed to be able to second guess the mood of all members of this forum before posting, and tone down whatever might possible offend, I don't know. It all seems a bit precious and overly sensitive to me, especially as the majority here seem to be adults.

As mentioned a few times now, people are not forced to read threads here that they have little interest in (and, like you flecc, I've not been following the long running Speedict discussions, for just this reason).

Which of course is your choice... but it does come as a surprise due to the devices 'potential' for instant solutions to many issues that have been raised very recently :p

TBH, it's only because I don't possess a mobile phone, let alone one that would drive this thing! I suspect it is a great gadget, but only for those that already have the bit of kit needed to make it work.

I've adopted a (to me) simpler solution of incorporating power measurement and control into a DIY display, but recognise that's not the sort of solution that would appeal to many.

I think Nick (themutiny) has left the forum so may well have not seen the PM Jeremy.

I agree one cannot interpret others moods or feelings, and sensitivities can vary greatly. It's something I also fall foul of occasionally and have done so recently as you may have seen from a current thread reply about rudeness. Fortunately that has been very amicably settled by PMs since, something denied to you at present.

Similar reason that I'm not interested in the Speedict thread, no compatible mobile. Mine just makes phone calls on the very rare occasions that I switch it on.

Is there a public project page/thread detailing this?

Yes, it is an odd restriction but it hasn't always existed. If you check you'll see that my posts there in the Technical section are historic from when I did have the access which is now denied, or in one case transferred in by the moderators. The policy apparently changed to one of the moderators transferring posts into there they thought suitable for permanent inclusion. Responses to threads are possible and I have answered the odd question misplaced into there to help inquirers, but like the questions, the answers can take quite a while to appear due to moderation before appearance.
Well that is fine if the moderators actually transfer the damn things which as fas as I can see they don't (or far to infrequently). As far as Im concerned they should either remove the restriction or appoint more moderators to make sure they are moved in a timely manner. for example why hasn't the speedict one been moved as that is definitely technical and could never be considered as anything else.

Part of it is described on ES here: Endless-sphere.com • View topic - Lightweight folder - build thread

Since then the bike has changed and now has a Q100 rear motor rather than that big BPM. I'm currently working on a slightly better display/control unit that includes RFID sensing as a secure "ignition" switch and also includes a discreet "legal"* power limiter.

* P.S: Not really legal, but at least it might be an indicator of good intent............

Since much of the existing historic content is badly in need of updating, something that is impossible with no edit facility, I'd gladly see the whole content scrapped and the Technical thread opened anew for all technically based threads.

We have many forums but most are either rarely used or inadvertently misused, so I'd prefer a rethink on what forums are really needed. I think the following open forums would be the most useful: Technical, Projects, Electric Bicycle General (which would include the current "announcements and feedback" and "Which electric bike should I buy"), Introductions and Reviews. I don't think the FAQs forum serves any useful purpose and some others are clearly redundant.

Interesting stuff... Certainly food for thought. Cheers.

I mentioned about having a separate forum ages ago after the posh bikers went on about us bending the rules. We could also have a beginners part to show basic fault finding to members (could be titled 'save cwah from destruction'.

I get the impression that the site owners dont really care and maybe just in it to collect the advertising money.( that might stir them up a bit :D)
