I have bought several bike computers but when it comes to fitting the sensor on the wheel spokes the allowed distance from the sensor to the magnet that fits on the frame is way to far apart, most of them say 3-5mm.

Maybe I am not interpreting the instructions properly or there isn't one available.

I would be grateful for any advice. I have a limited budget and Amazon have the Cats Eye Vero on offer at £29.

try putting a small nut on the magnet to extend it and see if that works.

... or pack the sensor so it sits closer to the spokes; double sided foam adhesive tape works well.

Of all those I've fitted, it was just a case of finding where on the leg of the fork to fit the sensor since the spokes are closer to the leg towards the bottom where the axle is and further away at the the top.

Mechanical hard drive internal magnets are extremely strong and about 2mm to 3mm in width - maybe break/cut and stick a piece onto your existing magnet with epoxy resin? A dead 2.5 inch drive would contain smaller magnets. You can usually buy an allegedly functioning hard drive (they are often dead or damaged; full of bad sectors or making crunchy/other noises hard drives shouldn't make) for a couple of pounds or less, from Computer Exchanges shops. There's a Cex shop in most towns and you can check stock at any store using their website:

The cheapest costs 20p
