Can I de-limit my BH Neo Cross bike?

Hi all,

Thank you all for reading this. I really, really would appreciate any advice you guys could give me!

I own a 2013 BH Emotion Neo Cross e-bike:

It's a pedal-assist only model (I believe some other versions have the twist-throttle).

The problem is - I am in Australia, and we have a law which limits e-bikes to 250w. The bike is actually 350w- but electronically limited (to fit with our national limits). I plan to do some off-road riding with this in the near future, and was wondering if anyone knows if / how it might be possible to 'de-limit' the motor, so it can go at it's full speed potential?

Thank you!

Its the controller that's limiting the power, so worst case is a new one (assuming the battery can supply enough current). You may be able to modify the existing controller.

Locate it and take some pictures. We need to see the cables going in, out, and the controller please.

Also, knowing what motor and battery you have will help.

Its not electronically limitied. The motor just doesent spin faster at 36volt.You can run it with a 48 volt battery with the orginal controller and get about 37 kmh max speed and much more torque.Easiest way is to buy a bh emotion nitro battery. As far as i know it fits right in and it is 48volt.or you can do it like this:

I'm sorry, but that's not correct. It is a 350w bike originally, but is electronically limited to comply with our 250w limit. I was told this by the owner of the bike shop (who subsequently told me that I was not allowed to remove the electronic limiter or it would void the warranty).

Also, it already travels at around 34KPH; I want it to go as fast as the non-limited original (and US) versions at it's natural 350 watts.

your bike is already derestricted. You won't get more out of it.

Trex is correct. The only solution is to overvolt the system

Why do you ask if you already think you know the answer??.There are two motor types the bafang cst (older version) and the dapu motor. The older motor had a higher top speed.Anyway, you want get any more top speed without a higher voltage. Why do you think the man bother to make the youtube speed hack video?
You can read forever about it here if you dont belive me

Hi all,
I'm new on the site. I was searching for information here (and elsewhere) on how to remove the speed limiting of my BH Easymotion Max 700. It supposedly is supposed to go up to 40kmh/25 mph. But it actually cuts out at around 24 kmh.
Maybe I was looking for a different sort of 'freedom' than others on this forum as all the solutions were very complex with new battery packs and wiring, and talk of changing voltage to the motor.
So I wanted to just share, in case someone else is looking for my kind of solution, that it was far easier than I had expected: there is a little round magnet bolted to a spoke of the back wheel. I took this off today and suddenly the motor doesn't cut out! The power display does flash, apparently to signal a problem of the torque sensor. But who cares?

So if you just want to have the motor stay on at higher speeds, this is a 1 minute solution at no cost. Perhaps this is laughably obvious to all you technically knowledgeable types but us gumbies still need help with this sort of thing.

Earthdave,
it is a well known fact that these pesky little spoke magnets keep falling off and lost.
It is impossible to buy a replacement!

The grip on the spoke can be lose and it can also slide out of position:(

There can be a problem using that method. Many controllers will go to sleep if they don't receive a speed signal for 5 or 10 minutes, though you only have to press the switch to restart it.

Does the BH Easy motion go to sleep?

I assume the two of you are being funny.
I was silly enough to actually have it replaced when I had just bought my bike second hand (for a steal) but I can't remember if I suggested it or the owner in the shop. Anyway, happy to have 'lost' it again. Makes picking up my son from school in his bike trailer, here in the French countryside, that much faster and fun.

A more elegant solution would be to press + and - together on the LCD which brings up the wheel diameter, in inches, selection. The circumference of your selection, in metres, is shown as well.

If you were to select 18" then the displayed numbers are nearly correct in imperial. Thus when it says you're travelling at 25 kmPH you're actually doing 25mph. This cures one of the few annoying things about this bike that its display won't convert to imperial.

Incidentally, I've never tried this - way above my pay grade - but it's so obvious that someone must have?
