Can anyone help with a D2 throttle problem?

I have recently bought a Fiido D2 however the throttle/hall sensor was broken. I have replaced the throttle with a cheap one from ebay. However it doesn't seem to work. the new throttle requires 5v to function yet the voltage coming from the bike is around 2.75v. I was just wondering if I need to buy a new throttle that works at 2.75v or whether there is a problem with the output voltage of the bike?

Generic ebike stuff all use 5v for the hall sensors, if one is only seeing 2.75v from the controller then suspect the controller 5v output voltage regulator is faulty.
Can other fido owners confirm low voltage out put should be 5v ?

A previous poster had issues trying to use a generic Ebay throttle with a D2, it seemed because of wiring differences. This video might help fix your old throttle, but if needed a genuine Fiido one can be bought here with the right wiring sequence and plugs. Fiido support are quite helpful too.

The old throttle is missing the hall effect sensor completely(so I cant even see what one I need), looks like the previous owner had tried to fix it themselves as there are just three wires (red, white and black) that have been cut and shrink wrapped. I have a hall sensor that operates at 2.7v on order so will try that. maybe fiido can tell me what operating voltage the throttle needs. I don't want to pay for another new throttle if it is a problem with the controller not outputting the right voltage. thanks cyclebuddy and nealh. I will let you know if I manage to fix it.

It may well be then that a std 5v halled throttle simply doesn't work as the working V's are too high. It is possible that fido use a different low voltage line rail in which case if the 2.7v hall works then they are making there bike incompatible with generically available items.
Keep the forum posted with your findings.

Some time ago another similar issue arose with an e mobilty buggy/wheelchair and the user had a similar issue with a generic throttle not working, I think his lv rail was 9v when asked to probe the output.

Can you probe the PAS sensor or motor halls to see what voltage they show up ?

The PAS sensor looks sealed and i'm unable to probe it without taking the controller out and finding the connector inside the bike. The new hall sensor should be here at the weekend so will try that first and if it doesn't work I will try removing the controller. I have emailed Fiido support so hopefully they can let me know if a 5v throttle should work on the bike.

Any PAS or motor hall would have to be tested at the controller connector if it is of the block type.

It's easy to do the tests Neal suggests; accessing the controller is only two screws.

There's a D2 video on Display Replacement which shows how to voltage test at the controller whilst keeping it powered up, and another video showing Controller Replacement that identifies the individual wiring harnesses: You can easily measure there to see if 5v is present as Neal suggests.

it was a bit tricky to get to the wires that I needed but I did manage to probe them and it read 4.5v. That's the black and red wires that go to the PAS sensor

The throttle then should also give 5v or so, as I mentioned most controllers use 5v for all peripheral items.

I have just gotten a response from Fiido support which i must say was very quick. This is what they said

Hi, The controller is 5V output, and the output of the handle can be used between 3.3V and 5V .Hope it can help you .

So now I'm really confused, I will try and check the voltage at the controller. maybe there is an issue with the wiring although it shows a steady 2.7v. I guess my next move is to replace the controller?

Yes if one is only seeing 2.7v then a component inside isn't working correctly.

yeah I just tested the Voltage at the connector on the controller and 2.7v is what its reading. Looks like I'm buying a new controller.

lights/horn/usb and the speedo

I want too inspect the hall sensor and the wire's are broken off
so
Question can the sensor be bypassed

Do I buy a sensor and solder one in

OR

buy a new throttle from Fiido

little bit of history on the bike
when I got the bike it was the wires where all disconnected from the control box (Don't know why) with my multi meter and
this post I manage too get things working

Help! - Fiido D2 wiring diagram

Hi All, Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a Fiido D2. I have naively disconnected thinking it would be colour coded when taking off the back wheel! I have attached the controller if anyone know anything please let me know. Thanks
