if you like value for money, the £809 woosh Big Bear LS is hard to beat.
It has BPM motor and 15AH battery.

Just to clarify, the entry level eZee Sprint Primo with the standard 11Ah battery is £795. The eZee Sprint 8 again with the standard 11Ah battery is £1175.

For an additional £125 either model can be upgraded to a 15Ah battery or to 21Ah for £300.

I hope that is helpful.

Hi all
Again thank you for all your advice. Dh8veh your battery calculation was very helpful.
What I am struggling with as i don't understand bike specifications is the comments on value for money. Can I ask the forum to explain simply in untechy terms which of the next 3 bike you feel give value for money on specs. I know that I need to trial before buying.
Freego .regency 16ah £1299
Volt . Burlington 16an £1509
Ezee sprint £1395 not sure what battery
Thank you
The 1509 is my absolute top price range

Many thanks
Regency,
Ally frame Classic looks standard components.
Steady rider nothing special for or against, it's your style then ok but Not mine
ezee sprint 8
ally frame classic looks standard components.
As above but has hub gears so less mainance Better for you. And easier to use.
Would prefer over regency

Volt Burlington ,
Ally frame classic looks standard components.
For v wave If it is anything at all?
Against price , heavy, derailier gears.

But none of above suit me.
So ezee or whoosh for lazy slow steady traveling in an old fashioned way.
Battery Ah is probably the decider the bigger the better as it gives you range without effort.

ok time to try
I want to start with trialing the ezee sprint 8 with a 20ah battery.
Does anyone know where i can hire one for a week to give it a good trial? and how much would it cost

Cyclezee is your best bet for that inquiry.

Which illustrates your next hurdle, getting a long test ride on your preferred ebike can be difficult.

Most shops will let you take one around the block - if it's a dry day.

oo I hope not, a flat run is not going to test if it suits my hilly needs. Hopefully the companies who have recommended their bikes will be confident that it will suit me and allow me to trial it. I will contact ezee tomorrow.

The 20ah battery shouldn't handle any different from the 10/15, it'll just be a bit heavier. You shouldn't need a week, you just need a day arranged with some big hills to tackle ( even 5 mins or a few hours will be enough to tell if you make how the bike feels. ) you would also want to trial it in traffic too.
I would agree that the retailers are missing out by not offering a hire scheme that can become a try before you buy but that is their problem.
Juicy bikes can be hired at various places in the peak district for trial/ leisure use.

Have you bought a bike yet Carol? I live in really steep hilly country and I ride a Sit up a beg style Gepida 1000 (older style with battery on seat post stem - the newer styles have them on the rear rack). Definitely go with a crank driven bike to get you up hills. When I first wanted an ebike I spent hours deliberating but in the end I had to try out the various bikes to realise the ones I thought I wanted didn't suit me as well as others. So definitely try out all bikes you are considering - unless you've already bought one.
