Button on top of battery

Hi,

I have just recently purchased a Mistral, and I have noticed that on top of the battery there is a little round button, which is beside what looks like 3 small lights. I cant be sure about the led lights, it is just a guess. Basically, I am curious as to what this button is and what it does.

Sorry, not familiar with the Mistral battery. I just saw the title of the thread and thought it was a F1 race report.

Some e-bike batteries have a test button, press the button and the LEDs alongside show the charge state, the more LEDs lit, the higher the charge. That's probably what it is.

Not many members in at present, but sooner or later one of our many Mistral owners will come in and confirm what it is.

The three green lights indicate the state of charge of the battery when the button is pressed - but don't take too much notice of them. For some reason they don't seem to be in sync with the five red lights you get on the handlebars.

I have found that you can be down to one green light and yet still have four to five red lights showing. Even on one green light the bike will do 10 or 12 miles so I have found it best to completely ignore the green lights and work off the red.

And the best way of gauging these is to stop for a few minutes for a breather and see how many red light appear. If you are still getting three or four no need to worry. If you are down to one then there not much left in the locker.

The red lights flucutate up and down alarmingly during normal riding but they do tend to recuperate after a short breather and where they settle is the all important reading.

I find I can get around 20 miles out of my bike without too much trouble. After that I am down to one red light and a lot of angst.
