So what fun today; just pulling away from the lights on my Brompton at the Imax roundabout at Waterloo and SNAP, chain broken.

Slightly restored my opinion of car drivers who all had to wait as I scrabbled around for the chain and hobbled off the road whilst holding everybody up....no beeps or swearing at all :)

Managed to remove the broken link and carry on. Slightly disappointed with this chain as it was nowhere near worn out (stretching wise).

Ive had two snap on me in the last fifteen years or so. Cant complain too much, though like yours there was no apparent reason for it. I always carry a couple of SRAM powerlinks in my toolkit just in case.

Also worth having powerlinks in case you rip off a derailleur, you can shorten the chain and turn it into a singlespeed to get you home. Brilliant little things.

No need for a chain with a hub motor + throttle :p
