I doubt we’ll get any terms as good as the ones we gave up if we do re join.

The current outfit in government has done as much damage, if not more, to this country as any of our “enemies” I learned about at school.
Quite sure we won't!

At least at the end of WWII we had a pretty amazing Lancaster bomber factory! So, yes, you are probably right.

Mark Harper just said that Rishi Sunak was not responsible for getting the Covid fine. He turned up and found Johnson already there and partying.

However, he didn't shop Johnson. And, so far as I am aware, didn't raise the issue at all. Hence, absolutely guilty of complicity even if his original transgression was a touch more difficult to nail on him.

Sunak is an untrustworthy snake. Until 72 hours ago, he had been propping Johnson up and not challenging the lies. That makes him equally corrupt.

Only when it became obvious the game was up did he withdraw his support.

The petrol station stunt revealed his true sneaky nature. He had to borrow a car off a poor person and pretend to fill it up. Then he embarrassed himself by not knowing how to use money due to his fabulous wealth. Treacherous sneak steeped in Johnson’s corruption.

The police who investigated all the facts clearly don’t agree. If Harper’s account is true a FPN would not have been issued. Even now and after all that has happened, these clowns can’t stop themselves from taking voters for fools and lying. Anyone remotely connected to Johnson is damaged and unfit for government. There has to be a complete clear out.

His having prepared a very polished (and expensive) video ahead of time is also an interesting move. (No, I have not watched it - am relying on multiple descriptions.) Aside from anything else, it would appear that its cost will NOT count against campaign expenses.

I’ve not seen it, but from accounts, it’s not been put together in less than 72 hours. That video will have been in the making for weeks. He also registered a leadership campaign website domain name earlier this year. This plotting has been going on whilst simultaneously supporting Boris Johnson by promoting his lies.

Billionaire Sunak is not going to have any desire to change a system which has made him a billionaire and made other people too poor to cook free food. Any claim otherwise can be filed with his fake support for Johnson, his fake petrol station stunt and his fake empathy for those struggling as inflation rages. He’s a $h!t as far as I’m concerned.

I have little reason to doubt the information below. Which is where my sarcasm about when the bill was paid came in. If paid in the USA, months ago, ...

Rishi Sunak's launch video – snap verdict

Rishi Sunak’s launch video is slick and extremely professional. (It is also not the sort of thing that has been knocked together in a rush, since Sunak resigned on Tuesday night.) The former chancellor has spent a lot of time in the US, where the political consultancy industry is much more advanced than in the UK, and the video has all the hallmarks of a top-notch production based on the best advice money can by.

pretty good video.
I like it, especially at the last moment, the slogan 'Ready for Rishi, the Guardian' as if the Guardian had made it.

I really dislike the idea of referring to these people by their first names, Boris & Rishi being two examples.

It’s a very thinly disguised con to make you believe they are your mate, that they just like you. The reality is, they wouldn’t cross the street to wee on you if you suddenly combusted. I really hate the first name thing. It’s full title or full name for me.

In the case of Sunak, I prefer treacherous law breaking lying snake.

we are going to have a tory PM whether we like it or not, Hunt and Sunak are the most likely candidates that will inflict less damage through their incompetence than the rest of the list.
Hunt has not said that he will run, so I would put Sunak in front of other likely candidates (in no particular order): Ben Wallace, Pritti Patel, Tom Tuggendhat, Sajid Javid, Suella Braverman, Nadhim Zahawi, Nadine Dorries, Steve Baker, Penny Mordaunt, Liz Truss and maybe a couple more.

I think he’d be better positioning Labour as being committed to rejoining the EU or at least holding another referendum. That assumes the EU would allow U.K. back of course.

I think there is a ground swell of people building who are starting to realise they’ve been conned. I was conned into voting for Brexit, but not everyone is ready to openly admit it. In the solitude of a voting booth, I think a surprising number of people would support a party committed to scrap the madness of Brexit. The evidence is there. Every single difficulty we are currently facing is either due to, or made worse by Brexit. I think voters are starting to see that.
I hear you, but I think the time is not yet right. The pain of Brexit needs to become more acute ,before the boil is lanced. At this stage it might be politically better if one of the most fervent ideological Brexiteers became PM, and repudiated the NIP. .... Then the UK would see what isolation really means , and that sunlit uplands were actually Aberfanesque slag heaps. Otherwise these is going to be a rump of " sneaking regarders" believing in what might have been.

Lack of integrity is what differentiates Johnson from all previous PMs.
Generally when political and or real obituaries are written, there are some redeeming qualities found .. well Fintan O'Toole ,writing in the Guardian has broken with that tradition.

Do Ukrainian soldiers require visas?

Just amazed that, if they need them, (rather than being covered by some military system), they have actually received them.

Has anyone checked to see who of the above have gone through the WEF young leaders 'training' program?

I take it that you are referring to those undertaking training in the UK. Well I would say the answer is no, and nor do they have passports. They are on active service with their regiment and will have been issued travel passes if necessary. But most likely they were picked up by Hercules aircraft in Poland, and deposited in Brize Norton and ferried by Bus to wherever barracks is suitable and they have their Ukrainian ID and uniforms. Then on an appointed day they get back on the bus ...
