Yep - quite a bit! (Not for one moment denying my capacity for rambling.)

I rather hope that a non-tory government might have matched the best the tory government has achieved with respect to Covid - but without the colossal scale of corruption. We'll never know so my hope is as good as anyone else's expression of opinion regarding the issue.
You actually believe Labour could have procured vaccine, set up contracts, organised roll out and not jumped into bed with EU vaccine procurement???
They can't even organise their own party at moment.
And exactly which part of current Labour aren't on the take??? Have you missed the Liverpool mayor, McCluskey and Co sleaze. They are no better than tories.

There you go again, another rant.
And your latest fiction is the notion that I blame Boris for the world wide death toll?

I explained previously what should have been done, and simply observed that Corbyn would have locked down earlier as he isn't simply interested in protecting the economy nor inclined to spend billions with his mates.

As to our losses being average for the European area , think again!

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1115043/coronavirus-deaths-timeline-in-the-eu-5/
Corbyn had no intention at all of locking down earlier. He said he, d be ignoring initial instructions around social distancing, way after Johnson had been telling us to do so.
I just wonder exactly what strategies you are endowing Corbyn with... Do labour even have a Covid policy... Would have been written on a fag packet night before expected interview about it. Yet in your imagination there's is better than Boris'... Only in your delusional mind.
I, m telling you UK dodged a bullet not having the fiasco of a weak Labour government in power during pandemic. They, d still be discussing first lockdown now. As I said earlier, a point utterly lost on you, at least we, ve had a government capable of making decisions. That 80 majority has been a massive benefit.
On the comparison between UK and other countries UK is 13th World Wide on death rate, with 10 European countries having worse death rates, including Italy and Belgium. Spain, Portugal, France are all within 3% of our death rate. (and catching ours)

My second Oxford jab is in 3 weeks time.

Deaths down, infections down, hospitalisations down. All good. Sadly not the case on the continent.

The U.K. has got this right.
You missed out the fact we abused the EU by using 21 million doses from them and sent them none at all
So you can, to a large degree thank the EU for that rather than waving your Union Jack.
And as to this
"The death rates in the UK at present would have been astronomical."
The lockdown stopped that happening, the vaccine simply helped
120,000 dead would just love to be alive to disagree with any celebration, and if a resistant version of Covid, takes hold, your complacent attitude to the vaccine may be short lived
We are not at the end of this particular gamble after all.
[/QUOTE]

Infections down, hospitalisations down, deaths down. Fact.

The U.K. medical experts made an assessment, utilised their expertise to develop a strategy and recommended it to the government who implemented it.

It’s worked and you can’t stand it. Fact.

As for stealing vaccine. Say you go to the greengrocer at 08:00 am in the morning and buy some carrots. If Mrs Grayson then rolls up at 4:00 pm and can’t decide if she wants carrots or parsnips, or even if she wants any carrots at all, she can’t then complain when the grocer has sold out.

The EU is a Mrs Grayson. The got bogged down in the massive inertia of their bureaucracy. They fuckedup. I’m not happy about that. It’s a shame, but that’s what happened.

I know you won’t accept this because you hate anything the U.K. does well and continually undermine it.

While England is built on a housing bubble, Scotland is a very developed country and richer in natural resources than England.
Why should it fail to borrow? England on the other hand will shrink considerably.

A somewhat simplistic and, dare I say?, naive interpretation of events.

As I understand, more than once, the process of recommending included threats to resign by the science elements. That is, the government did not want to follow them and their advice but only did so under pressure of something being done which would have looked very bad for BJ.

Further, since when was the scientific advice to hand out contracts like jelly and ice cream at a kiddy's party?

None of the following is an EU country:

Gibraltar
San Marino
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Montenegro
North Macedonia
Apologies, altered to European countries. Point is still same. UK does not have significantly worse death rate than any other comparable country. Its better than Italy, Belgium and a few others, very similar to Spain, Portugal, Netherlands. Germany appears best in Europe but some suspect that is linked to difference in recording.
The point is the UK haters are continually saying UK has worst death rate in world. It hasnt. Its bad but about average for European countries. (and better than most with same socioeconomic groupings..) Our age, ethnicicity, obesity and diabetes groups have affected death rate equally as much as policy but the anti government fans don't bother to examine that. It's easier to just blame Boris and Tories. But then we will learn nothing for next time.
Seems to me so many are just like Brother in law. Continually moaning about government but has lived on government hand outs for past 12 months, had his vaccine weeks ago, (both), has been able to keep all his employees with furlough and has never been exposed to infection at all. But government have handled it terribly. His business is ideally placed to resume and I suspect he, s actually had more cash than normal.
Folk are same on here. Moan from privileged positions. Taken all the benefits but can't even acknowledge they exist. Sort of typical spoilt people.
Of course mistakes have been made, if it were so simple as folk make out every country in world would have zero deaths. There isn't a simple set of procedures any country could have followed negating the infection's affects What we should be doing instead of making political points is studying exactly what has worked, what has not and why some groups have been affected terribly whilst others seem almost immune.
Darren Moore, a very fit 46 year old is struggling terribly, a 66 year old friend of mine was asymptomatic.?? Seems nobody knows why??? We should be answering questions like this rather than blaming voters.

What are you on about? we accepted deliveries of these vaccine shots and reneged on our promise of some in return.
What the heck as that to do with your fictional Mrs Grayson?

After announcing the company would be unable to deliver nearly two-thirds of the 100 million doses it promised the EU by the end of March, AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soriot initially pointed the finger at the Belgian plant, now owned by U.S. company Thermo Fisher Scientific.

But Thermo Fisher this week said it had done what it was obliged to under its contract with the drugmaker. “We have complied with all the contractual requirements we have with AstraZeneca,” Cedric Volanti, Thermo Fisher’s vice president for EU told a press conference Wednesday.

Now, the British-Swedish drugmaker is signing deals to increase the supply for the EU, including one with Germany’s IDT Biologika to start manufacturing the drug substance for the EU.

A successful strategy “has to have multiple sites,” one EU official said. "It appears now the U.K. is holding onto their plants, [and AstraZeneca was] relying solely on Thermo Fisher Scientific to manufacture for everybody — it’s impossible."

And yet we got 21 million doses in and none the other way

Another boring sermon and another demonstration of bigotry
"The point is the UK haters are continually saying UK has worst death rate in world. It hasnt. "

Now. it was certainly widely reported as being the highest for some time, where the people who published the report UK haters?

And some how the fact that anyone who voted for Brexit regards themselves as NOT being UK haters is an oxymoron.

I certainly don't hate the UK
I despise hypocrites, especially the ones who deny they are
Throughout this sad affair Astra Zenecha have been an unreliable company, and used for political advantage by the current government.

And it's a bit late for you to realise we should be studying what people are suffering, and why , and stopped waving the Little England flag about

Waving the flag is far better than burning it and trampling its ashes into ground as you do..
At times there is reason to wave a flag.. Its the radical extremes like you burning them we should try and eliminate.
The vaccine roll out is something we should celebrate as a nation. There isn't much to rejoice about these days.
Suspect you, d be taken far more seriously if you took bother to discriminate a bit. Yes, elements of our Governments behaviour deserve your criticism. The roll out is not one of them. If you applauded the good bits and criticised the bad you might be taken rather more seriously. As it is you simply appear hypocritical, critical of everything but taking benefits along the way with neither thanks or applaud for anyone, irrespective of their efforts.

There is a difference between instantaneous and average and between totals and cumulative.values. The UK had one of the worst deaths per thousand inhabitants, in Europe from CV19, cumulatively over the period March 2020 to March 2021. The UK had the best deaths per thousand rates in February 2020. compared with Western Europe.
Most of the same public health measures eg, furloughs have been employed elsewhere in Europe, and more consistently.

Trouble is they didn't implement it, they've made a cock-up of the program.

The number of people who have had second jabs is about to be double the total of all the priority workers and over 80s in the country.

Yet large numbers of the over 80s are yet to receive their second jab, many of them now overdue the 12 weeks since the first. Clearly nearly half the second jabs have been administered to younger and non-priority groups first.

An organisational shambles just like all the rest of Britain's handling of Covid-19.

So what you are saying is, the scientific community used their expertise to develop a strategy which they then recommended to the government who implemented it. I didn’t say anything different.

You chose to introduce jelly and ice cream.

Infection rate down, hospitalisations down, daily deaths down. That’s what the single dose strategy was intended to do. It’s done it. It’s a successful and ingenious strategy.
