Don't be dishonest, the EMA statement made very clear the additional work that's been done. In addition they've confirmed that the brain embolism factor will need to be watched closely and said warnings about it need to be added to the risks listing.
.
Yesterday. the EMA said, continue vaccinating using the Oxford vaccine. Many EU nations refused. Today, the EMA said, continue vaccinating using the Oxford vaccine. Now what?:D What a clown show.

We, ve had expert advice for nearly 2 weeks. Who, EMA, JCVI and Mhra have said all along keep vaccinating.
I, m not sure why when EMA reannounce vaccine is safe they are suddenly listened to. What is different to yesterday? They have looked again at same data and come to same conclusion. What's new?
Today you chose to believe them but yesterday you didn't? Seriously why change.. Just carry on ignoring them, seems you, flecc, OG and Woosh are experts in this field, WTF do EMA, Who, JCVI and Mhra know. They are government lackeys spouting propoganda.
Why is their propoganda any more believable now.. Drugs I think.
I don't understand your stance at all. Either EMA is credible or it isn't. You can't change your view of their ability, sincerity just to suit your argument, and likewise neither can the Governments who chose to ignore their advice 2 days ago?? But somehow when they announce "carry on vaccinating*, folk on here, in governments who have stopped vaccinating will quite sincerely believe they are now following science and advice. But the damage has been done.
Just examine the figures. A weeks not vaccinating does the same damage as about 3 years vaccinating. (risk is about a thousand greater from Covid than blood clot from vaccine)???
But a week doesn't matter... In which case neither does 3 years plus of vaccinating.??? (it's actually way more than 3 years but point is valid)
Really?. Look at the timeline.!. Look at the EMA website. They did exactly what any competent authority does. They say, we are looking into it. But no reason to panic, they then send out requests for information, they issue a holding statement, then they get their data together and DO THE ANALYSIS., Then thy issue a final statement. They issued statements on 16 th and now 18th. Having used 17th to check the numbers. I find that reassuring.

The EMA has stated the Oxford vaccine is safe and effective for use. :D :D :D :D :D :D

FMTH What a sorry arsed tale this is turning into. This conclusion was inevitable. Now what’s stopping them getting their arses into gear:D:D:D:D:D
b
They choose not to for some reason, what a shame we can do nothing about it.
Has the thought not occurred to you that the likely reason is that they simply don't believe anything this country says.
Our reputation for lying and cheating has become a problem, hasn't it? :D

And Flecc still hasn't clarified if he,s now accepting EMA advice or not?
Are you flecc? EMA are now right but were wrong?
Or are you going down the consistent path. They were wrong last week and are still wrong?
They have had 2 more days data... Oooh, that would help clarify it.
Can't believe you lot are so gullable. This has been a political exercise. EMA have always said "keep vaccinating". Government ministers decided to not do so against all available evidence, data and advice. Yet now, after 2 days extra investigation and a weeks extra data... Its miraculously safe. Give up Danidl. It's been safe all the time.
Yeh but, no but, they’re right but, wrong but, saying it’s safe but, unsafe but...... :D

Should we be more worried about the Indian vaccine ? I have only bought two things from India,rickshaw springer forks that began to rust within a year and veruzend battery connectors that where faulty on arrival. Far play to veruzend they did send me two new kits and then another two of their updated kits for my troubles.

Don‘t bother looking. He will have misinterpreted what’s written and got it wrong.

Unfortunately OG , I have to agree with you. The only group politicising this has been UK centric.

Now that Labour has been more or less wiped out in Scotland can anyone see them winning another election in the next few years under the first past the post system? Polly Toynbee puts forward a strong case for adopting a PR voting system. Her last sentence in the piece is very telling.

"Here's the choice for Labour: share power most of the time, or be out of power most of the time - or, possibly, for ever.

Today's 18 th. March EMA statement:

  • the benefits of the vaccine in combating the still widespread threat of COVID-19 (which itself results in clotting problems and may be fatal) continue to outweigh the risk of side effects;
  • the vaccine is not associated with an increase in the overall risk of blood clots (thromboembolic events) in those who receive it;
  • there is no evidence of a problem related to specific batches of the vaccine or to particular manufacturing sites;
  • however, the vaccine may be associated with very rare cases of blood clots associated with thrombocytopenia, i.e. low levels of blood platelets (elements in the blood that help it to clot) with or without bleeding, including rare cases of clots in the vessels draining blood from the brain (CVST).
Information for patients:

  • COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca is not associated with an increased overall risk of blood clotting disorders.
  • There have been very rare cases of unusual blood clots accompanied by low levels of blood platelets (components that help blood to clot) after vaccination. The reported cases were almost all in women under 55.
  • Because COVID-19 can be so serious and is so widespread, the benefits of the vaccine in preventing it outweigh the risks of side effects.
  • However, if you get any of the following after receiving the COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca:breathlessness,pain in the chest or stomach,swelling or coldness in an arm or leg,severe or worsening headache or blurred vision after vaccination,persistent bleeding,multiple small bruises, reddish or purplish spots, or

Just a few minutes ago I had a canvasser for the Labour Party ring asking my opinion as to what Labour should be aiming for: I made exactly the same argument that Scotland was a lost cause and first past the post has to go as it gives absurd majorities at times.
Mainly I said we needed to rejoin the EU, no one has a chance of making brexit anything other than a millstone round our necks while we are trying to swim

Of course not, unlike you and JHC I know it's none of my business since we are no longer in the EU.

I've only defended the EU and its institutions because the attacks by you and JHC have been so dishonest, biased and grossly unfair. If you two hadn't been doing that I wouldn't have made any mention of internal EU matters now we've left.

And I've already made clear the basis of my personal judgment on the vaccine, meeting with approval from yourself and JHC, thus making your query invalid.

And the Irony of this is that when the EU suggested stopping Exports there was a furore in the media, but now the Indian Serum institute has done the same thing
No reaction, no fire and fury from the media, meanwhile we ban the export of 100 Covid related drugs and export no vaccine to the EU

It was never based on hope. That’s a very silly thing to say. As if they would wing it in such a manner.
More dishonesty, I posted partly based on hope, and it was. Indeed even yesterday one of the Europeans actually said he hoped for a favourable outcome.

After all, we based everything on hope when we accepted the risk of adopting a vaccine before it was adequately trialled, tested and peer reviewed. Then we did the same in deciding to delay the second doses by many weeks, hoping it would be ok though that had never been tested at the time.

And in Brexit related news. The customs figures from January are available. Imports from the UK to Ireland was 35% of what it was a a year ago. In other.words a reduction of 65% . Now some of this is because of stockpiling ..but that was also a factor a year ago. Exports from Ireland to the UK were also down by 15% ie 85% of normal trade. However that ignores that food exports was down by 33%.
