In the world according to The Daily Express, we are beating Coronavirus and nearing herd immunity. Meanwhile in the real world, we aren’t beating Coronavirus and we aren’t nearing herd immunity, but The Daily Express has taken the Daily Mail’s crown as the most prolific purveyors of BS after Boris Johnson.
Yes but now we are out of the EU, we judge by our own dependable British Standards, not those of others. As you said, BS is our accepted standard.
And by our standards we are doing quite well now, having often done far worse a short while ago.

In a sense I'm, as a labour supporter, happy with that. Let the tories - and boris in particular - reap the consequences of what they sowed (brexit, deliberate disinformation, lies about public spending, deliberately atrophying of the nhs). But I feel for those at the sharp end of it, in care homes, even delusional brexit supporters and their families losing their benefits to universal credit.
Remind me what Churchill said about crossing the channel small boats ...

When you elect Monkeys to create policies, quite naturally they will be satisfied with Trade agreements that yield peanuts
There is it seems in all humans a light side and a dark side.
My light side is pretty well brassed off and appalled at Human stupidity
But my dark side is pi**ed out of it's head laughing , rather like watching stock car racing to enjoy the crashes.
But theres something unfunny about it. In Beirut or Belarus endemic corruption result in determined protest. Here its rewarded with regular insincere handclapping. If 60000 plus avoidable deaths doesnt penetrate the public consciousness one has to wonder what will take the shine of the BS. Certainly not 3 gigaton nitrate blowing away part of London. I have a friendly bet with a colleague (for a cheap bottle of champagne) that boris will be more popular than ever after the next peak and a further 100k deaths.

What is all the fuss about A Level results about? If they aren’t happy with their grades, they can sit the exam for real. With the lockdown and restrictions on socialising, all that extra time will have been spent studying, so if anything, results will be much higher this year, after the re-sit. #nosympathywhatsoever. #stopmoaningandfuckoff
I will agree with you on this topic. I cannot see why the A levels O levels and in our case the Leaving certificate were replaced with estimated grades . Schools are very big places and typically there are only 100 kids per school doing an exam. There are typically 30 rooms , so three or four exam papers of equal complexity could be given on alternate sessions.
We now have a ludicrous court case pending where a home schooled child is suing the State, because their parent is unable to give an estimated grade. My solution, costing the fraction of a senior council, is give the kid the real exam.
