An interesting development
https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/top-stories/twice-as-many-young-people-to-vote-since-last-election-1-6386022
"
Since the election was called 737,775 18-24 year-olds have registered to vote, compared to 368,965 in the equivalent period in 2017.

It is a 100% increase in the number who have signed up to cast their ballot next month, according to analysis by Vote For Your Future.
I noticed that reported somewhere else. It encourages but, right now, who knows why they have registered?

This is odd in the Telegraph they have this
"
General Election 2019 latest polls: Boris Johnson leads by more than 10 points as campaign enters third week

Which seems a lot less than the other papers claim
And the Express is running this
"
Election prediction: Tories could win general election... but Corbyn could STILL be PM
BORIS JOHNSON could win more general election seats than Labour but still be forced to watch Jeremy Corbyn enter Number 10 instead, a polling expert has warned.

What on earth is going on?

The BBC is certainly guilty of supporting Boris by editing this video to delete the laughter

Get your Fake news fix from the BBC

If that is true then it has been edited for time.

There is nothing sinister there. You are after the quote and if it takes 12 seconds of noise before the quote comes then you have to lose the noise.

Only morons would think that is some sort of scam to get votes for Johnson.

Quite a smooth sound edit actually.

There is always the problem of complacency - are they just lying to try to avoid the impact of tory voters assuming they are in the majority?

I did but it was from a Nigerian family.

I didn't think I would bother you as I know what you think of Africans in general let alone Nigerians as your previous comments have indicated
Good call my friend, good call. Night night.

And only a moron would imagine that excuse is valid, even you should be able to see that, the removal of the laughter was no accident, how could it be? it was the most telling part of the sequence of events, but then you are one of them really aren't you?

Lord Nigel rides out again
"
Nigel’s next move: Farage reveals NEW PARTY plan – and it should terrify Corbyn and Boris
NIGEL Farage has revealed plans to rebrand the Brexit Party as the Reform Party with an agenda of “draining the swamp” of Westminster politics.

If he really wants to do that all he has to do is leave the country

A rebranding exercise does not create a new party. There again, that's the Express for you.

Tory propaganda manifesto.

Other key pledges include a promise not to raise income tax, National Insurance contributions or VAT and an extra £250m a year for childcare support.

All too many governments have made promises like this and then used tricks to get round their “promises”. Like not increasing basic rate income tax but changing the bands, the rates other than basic rate, the rules. Similarly for NI and VAT.

Hospital parking charges will be axed for selected patients and NHS staff.

There are no longer hospital parking charges in Wales. Making promises that are that hollow doesn’t exactly invite support. My regular hospital parking problem in England was going for a blood test when I could be in and out in less than ten minutes. But had to pay for at least an hour of parking - if I could find anywhere to park.

Boris Johnson will vow to "unleash the potential" of the UK.

Speaking in the West Midlands, the prime minister will promise to "get Brexit done" and "turn the page from the dither, delay and division of recent years".

As if 31st January actually gets anything done. There will be an eternity of trying to sort out the mess.

Other headline manifesto commitments are set to include a national pothole-filling programme, and a pledge to raise the National Insurance threshold to £9,500 in 2020, with an ambition to raise it further to £12,500.

To me, it doesn’t look like the money that is spent on pothole filling that is the main issue. It is a combination of things including lack of proper long-term resurfacing. Also, looks like there are companies which specialise in poor-quality repairs. They chuck a spit of tarmac in a hole and move on. In no time, it is as bad as it was, or worse. A proper repair, bonded to the rest of the surface and smooth, should last well.

Wales is sometimes held up as the poster example of poor roads. My experience, in Pembrokeshire, is that the roads are better than next door in Carmarthenshire, and than where I used to live in England. Someone seems to try to get roads properly maintained. When they do a major resurfacing, it looks like it is done properly. Spot pothole repairs are also generally done adequately.

I see Labour have just chucked in a new fifty eight thousand million pound bonanza. This is on top of hundreds of thousands of millions of pounds already earmarked for the money fountain. Now why wasn’t this new fifty eight thousand million not in the manifesto or mentioned 72 hours ago in the TV debate?

oh, and where is the dosh coming from? Yep, more borrowing. VoteTory and avert a financial Armageddon again.

Labour’s financial plan is as stupid as my suggestion to print money and give everyone £2.5 million each, thus lifting the entire nation out of poverty.

The tories are claiming no tax rises yet they too are promising much spending, more money in our pockets, and the consequences of brexit - quite possibly of the no-deal variety.

Just who is causing the Armageddon?

(“put more money back in people’s pockets” doesn't take into consideration that most women of my acquaintance use purses of some sort rather than pockets. Par for the course, I guess.)

Unless it's live sport or a locked off camera.....

Everything you see on screen is edited. Everything.

When you see a set up of someone making a cup of tea it takes 15 seconds tops. Thats not how long in real life is it?

Every time you point a camera at a subject you change it....This is a philosophical point and not one I expect you to get...

Compressing time is a device not a prerogative. TV would be very boring if it conformed to real time. Hitchcock played with this rule in the film Rope. It worked and is seen as a masterpiece of timing but even I as someone who went to the same school as Hitchcock, studied him and see him as someone to aspire to, see it as an overblown, filmed stage play. One done with exquisite skill.

In short. You are an idiot.
