If an independent Scotland is in the EU and England is not, effectively there's no other option after a while as the economies and policies diverge. That's something Ireland may have to face too.

But such borders could be technologically protected with random spot checks and very heavy penalties for breaches.
.
Scots wear kilts not breaches, and borders never bothered the Bells the noo!
(Nor did the concept of "pre owned" if it came to that....);)

Labour now supports a second referendum and will campaign for remain in the next GE.

Is it the case of error of judgement from JC? closing the door after the horse has bolted?
What is surprising to me is what an easy time JC seems to get of it. The hard left are always complaining that he gets a hard time from the media but how many other leaders would have got away with the following.

Losing three elections in a row. JC was credited with not losing the GE by as much as was predicted, perhaps there is some truth in this. People forget however what a total mess TM and her advisors made of the Tory campaign, upsetting many of your natural supporters in the middle of an election by talk of a death tax was absolutely ridiculous.

TM may well go down in history as the worse PM ever, and yet in the EU elections Labour came third, surely JC has to take responsibility for that. He needs to get rid of his two main advisors and also tell Len Mccklusky to wind his neck in.

What he really needs to do is resign

Hold on, fake news! Jeremy has only lost one general election, the 2017 snap election called by TheresaMay.

He only won the post of Labour leader on 8th May 2015, the day after Ed Miliband lost the 2015 general election on the 7th.

If you carry on like this the Daily Mail will be offering you a job!

JC lost the May 2017 local elections (4 May 2017), June 2017 general election and now the EP election.
People may have sympathy for the underdog.

Tell one thing that is wrong about a gas cooker falling on, and ending up inside Nicola Sturgeon’s dwarf carcass.

The woman is a crazy gnome. On the one hand she is arguing with passion that a union of nations is essential (EU membership). She then argues with equal passion to break up the U.K.

Anyway, it’s irrelevant now because I’ve changed my mind and decided it should be an anvil.
Thats your best post for a while but just a touch bonkers...

I see that Alastair Campbell has been expelled from the Labour Party for the crime having an opinion and voting in an election.

When a political party moves to the extreme left or extreme right, it’s difficult to differentiate between them. Both become Nazis and that’s where Labour are heading. They need a good clear out.

I don't consider local elections as totally a party matter, local issues often play a big part and are sometimes dominant.

In the 2017 GE Jeremy Corbyn did well, coming from a long way behind in the Miliband era he enormously increased the Labour vote and demolished the Tory majority, forcing them into minority government supported by the DUP.

And the only way Labour might have done a bit better in the EP election would by by declaring for a No Deal Brexit. But they would still have lost to the Brexit Party as shown by the Tories who did even worse, despite their hard right pro No Deal ERG. And defying the referendum by declaring for Remain wouldn't have won it for him either.

That's not a bad record in each circumstance.

I see that Amnesty International, the organisation which fights against oppression and abuse within toxic regimes, is in trouble. A toxic and oppressive management regime within Amnesty has been found to be the likely cause of two staff suicides. Work that one out. Left wing organisation?

With a Right wing Management regime. Most of these Charities employ them in a quest for cheapness and "efficiency" and won't stand criticism

As good a guess as yours!
Work that one out

So that's what we are "World Class " at
In the Independent (cue groans from our resident Brexit wandering gospel preachers)
"
UK by far the biggest enabler of global corporate tax dodging, groundbreaking research finds

Britain has 'single-handedly' done more to undermine world's tax system than any other nation, report finds
"

But an index published today by the Tax Justice Network found that the UK has "single-handedly" done the most to break down the global corporate tax system which loses an estimated $500bn (£395bn) to avoidance.

The amount dodged globally each year is more than three times the NHS budget or roughly equivalent to the entire GDP of Belgium.Tax haven territories linked to Britain are responsible for around a third of the world’s corporate tax avoidance risk - more than four times the next greatest contributor, the Netherlands.

And the winning contender for the reason behind Right wing campaign for Brexit is that last sentence

"Tax haven territories linked to Britain are responsible for around a third of the world’s corporate tax avoidance risk - more than four times the next greatest contributor, the Netherlands."

If we stay in the EU they will urinate on that particular bonfire!

Surely we wouldn't do that? it's not cricket!

I think TM helped considerably with that. Her election campaign was abysmal. She was more wooden than Pinocchio. Hard work to make Corbyn look good but she did it
