I've no idea if an official campaigner mentioned it, but it was definitely mentioned at times during the campaign in the media and by Leavers..

Also by you 20 days before the referendum with this:

"The most outrageous recent claim from the Brexit side was that Europe was intent of having a European Army, and we should have nothing to do with it."

in this post.
.
I think perhaps you should have posted more than a snippet, don't you?
"
The most outrageous recent claim from the Brexit side was that Europe was intent of having a European Army, and we should have nothing to do with it.
One might ask if it does , why would the Americans lend their might to sponsor NATO? they will drop it like a hot stone.
And of course the wisdom of choosing not to be part of it's replacement (The European Army) but to place ourselves in a position where we might have to face a Pan European Army as an Enemy must be one of the biggest military blunders of all time.
A United States of Europe is in fact almost inevitable, in time. We can either join or make an enemy of it, and which, may I ask is the wiser choice?
Not a difficult question, is it?.

And I also said this
But not a factor raised as an issue during the referendum campaign as Turkey applying for membership was offered a bigger red herring.

And this
You are making assumptions on the basis of what politicians have told you what you should want.
There is no evidence for what you suggest, it could easily have been that immigration was the biggest factor and the leave campaign have insisted that was the case, and issues like the EU wanting an army didn't make an impact.
So there isn't a problem is there?

I confirmed that the leave campaign had mentioned it but dropped the matter as not likely to gain them the votes they needed, didn't I?

You are nothing but fair flecc.

We may disagree on Brexit but you are fair.
Read my post #39781 for a fuller account of my posts on the subject
The EU army was merely mentioned in the leave campaign, not majored on in any way. nor according to the BBC was it significant.
So your point is?

Not to illustrate my simple point that the subject was mentioned during the referendum campaign.

I posted the link to your post to ensure others could read all that you posted to see the context, but it wasn't relevant to my point, even though I agreed with your thoughts.

Not your fault in any way flecc
Fingers took that reference out of context of course. as if in confirmation that leave made a big deal over it.... they didn't

Indeed. It won't be a transition period per se. It will be a negotiation period but we will keep to the current deal so as not to damage business and people's lives.
When you say ‘keep to the current deal’ do you mean staying in the EU?
How do we do that unless we have a second referendum?

Possibility of an EU army is more likely everyday while Trump is US President - pushing an isolationist policy, while looking more at confrontation with China, and hinting that Europe will be on its own vs. Putin/Russia and ripping up treaties will nilly - so no guarantee or trust that he'd honour NATO commitments and at worst would drag NATO into a war of American making / serving predominantly American interests.
Excellent post 'Wicky' and I agree about the probability of an EU military arm. It makes a whole lot of sense in many ways, increasingly after the outbursts by Trump. We have less in common nowadays with the USA and I'm thankful for that.

Fascinating how the government wriggle over proposed withdrawal legal situation

John Bercow said the legal advice motion "is not just an expression of the opinion of the House; it is an expression of the will of the House that certain documents should be provided to it".

Surely they couldn't be trying to hide the fact that illegality compromised the referendum and Brexit should be stopped pending a full criminal investigation?
Thank goodness we can rely on their integrity

It appears that according to the electoral comission that the minimum time from a referendum being passed in parliament and the vote is 22 weeks.
Not sure why it needs to be so long but that means a delay in Art 50.
KudosDave
It is my belief, that in the event of the UK Governt sanctioning a referendum, in which Remain on current terms was an option, EU structures would be prepared to grant an extension for as long as it would take to count the votes.
Note i say belief not certainty.

Oh! what a lovely War! From the independent
"
No-deal Brexit: No more warehouses to stockpile food because Amazon may have booked them up, MPs told
Committee told all frozen and chilled space has been taken, but no one knows if there is anything in it – amid rumours that US giant is poised to pounce
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/no-deal-brexit-latest-crisis-amazon-stockpile-food-warehouses-booked-a8654006.html

When fantastic headlines appear like this one it shows how utterly mad Brexit has become, not because Amazon may have done this, but because SOMEONE has.
This is how panic buying is caused, and it is certainly not helping anyone that these rumours are circulating
They will be talking about fifth columns next

The agreed current terms are the ones in the 560 page document to be voted on in HoC on 11th Dec...2 weeks time. There are no other "current terms." It is fantasy to state otherwise.
'Danidl', I get that and I understood it first time round. I know that you are clear on it as are some other contributors to these pages.

However, and with the greatest of respect, you are failing to take on board that in the troll world, everything is fantasy - that's why even after an explanation of a topic has been given several times, it is never absorbed by the closed minds of troublesome trolls.

Well technically yes. But any fool knows that it won’t be ratified.

And let’s get it straight. Even the 27 will want their tuppence worth before anything is agreed.

I know you’re not that naive. As it stands Ireland win with a full house.

That’s not going to happen though.
