At the risk of repeating myself.
Local to me we have one of the biggest carrot farms in the country and you are right most of the people that work there are Polish.
They are all on minimum wage and zero hours contracts. If it rains he sends them home without pay. If a machine breaks down he sends them home without pay. He owns most of the houses nearby and rents them back to the
Polish workers (half a dozen adults in one house) Do you blame British
workers for not wanting jobs under these conditions ?
The only workers on full time contracts are the fitters and Electricians, He treats them ok because he has to.
He treats the Polish workers like crap because he can.
And next year he will be doing it to local workers instead, so what is your point?

But:

We had to pay PSA almost 10% of their investment to keep it going.

The vans will all switch to PSA's Peugeot platform and engines which are already made in the mainland EU, making it easy to close Luton at any time afterwards. Luton only has a one year guarantee, the rest is just hope.

PSA's Ellesmere Port plant producing Astras continues to shrink. It's already twice now shrunk by thousands of jobs and another 650 go at the same time as this Luton announcement.

Once again, PSA have plants for the Astra in the mainland EU. After buying GM's interests in the EU they have two idle plants in low cost countries which have previously produced Astras. Little wonder PSA haven't responded to our worries about the Ellesmere Port plant, since they need to cut costs by 2.5 billion by 2026.

I didn't say you did.

Brexiters were overwhelmingly for cutting immigration. You are the one now spinning by being selective about their occupations.

Immigrants are still immigrants, whatever their occupation.

And as for narrow viewpoint, that's rich coming from a Brexiter, the very embodiment of narrow mindedness. It's my open mindedness that welcomes the breadth implicit in EU membership and immigration.
.
Brexiteers were for cutting uncontrolled immigration.

Things have moved on since then. PSA promised the German government no jobs would be lost in Germany too...

It wouldn't have changed so quickly.

Plus the Unions would be made aware of this forst. Not some old boy on an electric nike forum.

Don't buy his *******

Balderdash.

There's a huge difference between 15 thousand Polish plumbers arriving in Peterborough and sending child benefit home and 5 thousand Romanian labourers turning up in Lincoln over a 12 month period to 500 trained Phillipino nurses going to a hospital trust and 150 trained Indian jumior doctors coming over.

There is a huge difference and you know it.
Having worked in my local hospital - there were domestic staff (serving food and drinks from 7am - 10 pm ) & Nursing Health Care Assistants (shifts covering 24/7 doing hands on care with patients ) employed at minimum wage working unqualified roles but chatting to these folk mainly Polish / European (many were degree holders), filling vacancies that couldn't be filled by English workers. Do you want them gone? and when gone who's going to push the tea and meal trollies around? who's going to give the bedbaths, make the beds and wipe the bums? Heck my local hospital is now mooting getting unpaid volunteers to work at the hospital to avert the expected winter crisis as they are finding recruitment difficult now that unqualified overseas staff are not welcome.

I did - and this quote stood out from Delaney > "I was, by then, aware of RT’s reputation. The channel is part-funded by the Russian state"

Delaney / his production company was paid by RT to produce programmes and in turn folk were paid an appearance fee. So Delaney while independant in choosing the skits, wasn't financially "totally independent" from RT > Russian State. Not sure what your definition is of totally but you seem to be back tracking.

I'm not back tracking. Although I'm starting to wonder if English is your first language.

Let me help you out.

As time went by, we were astounded by the freedom we were given. Some of the stuff we broadcast on News Thing was so juvenile, offensive and, sometimes, terrible that we expected to be kicked out at any moment. But we rarely saw the boss; we rarely had any interaction with the channel at all. That was almost suspicious in itself. Everyone on News Thing had worked for terrestrial channels for years; none of us had ever experienced such laissez-faire management.

and for you especially

Conspiracy theorists – and even some mainstream journalists – began to accuse us of being part of what they called Putin’s propaganda machine. This seemed laughable to us. For a start, we had complete editorial independence. Plus, everyone involved in making the show was essentially left of centre, your typical metropolitan liberal dickhead types (including me). Our output was often dumb and sweary, but usually balanced and pretty moderate in its views. We criticised Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn equally. The show was consistently pro-remain. The channel’s marketing slogan was: “Question more”. It was true that programmes such as Going Underground or George Galloway’s weekly discussion show liked to challenge what they saw as the lazy bias of western neoliberals; by comparison, News Thing was positively wishy-washy and mainstream.

Hopefully that wasn't too long for you to read.

Tom- My opinion is as valid as anyone else's. I would not presume to tell anyone to desist from posting on any forum just because I happen to disagree with their point of view. I respect your viewpoint, but you are obviously so narrow-minded that you think no-one is entitled to a contrary view. We all know where that sort of thinking leads, after having the remembrance ceremonies last week.
Hi Videtek , my tuppence worth.. you like everybody else has a right to an opinion and as right to express it. You have a DUTY to inform yourself when you express that opinion, and finally no not all opinions are equally valid. .. Some , ok all, surgeons might question my opinions on brain surgery, all soccer pundits would question the validity of my football opinions, many might disagree wuth my opinions on music but I would expect to be treated with respect .when I discuss matters related to Engineering and education ...

The European Union
Cutting uncontrolled immigration:

Many (most) EU countries have national ID cards and corresponding foreign resident cards.

Without an ID card:
- you can't work,
- don't get social security (which requires a SS number which you get when you can prove your identity with an ID card)
- don't get benefits (which requires another number/card)
- can't rent a room/flat
- can't buy stuff on credit
- can't get a bank account
-...

The French have been able to control me for over 40 odd years now. When I travelled to and from the UK the UK border control opened my passport and put a stamp in it, nothing was written down on a register in my presence. They didn't even bother looking at my wife's French ID card she just got waved through when she held it up. Going back to France was a very different story altogether where all documents were controlled and my passport number entered (by hand at the time) into a register. Nowadays the ID cards have an RF chip which enters each passage over a Shenzhen border into a computer.

Maybe UK immigration have been doing it all wrong when compared to here?

I agree with you that this has happened, and there's reasons behind it.

First in any population there are some who will take advantage of any opportunity to abuse the system. That applies to ourselves and immigrants.

Second the unwillingness of the native population to do some kinds of work such as crop picking. Many of those those who've tried say it's too hard and doesn't pay enough, preferring to be on benefits.

The employers say our people don't work hard enough when they do try it, the immigrants being far more productive. Our welfare state has produced a soft population whose productivity is one of the lowest in the western world, and we are now suffering for it.

And after brexit are you assuming he will suddenly change, when he can still do the same thing?
Why?
There are now plenty of our people willing to work under the same conditions, the government's stated aim is to ensure that

I agree with all those statements.. but let's be careful who we will be calling Losers?!. Is it those who walked away from one of the most successful and democratic organisations set up over the last 60 years or those who wished to remain.
I have said it often in the past..
Be careful about what you wish for .. you might get it.
