By the way, why is this not the United Queendom?
It's probably a leftover of primogeniture, particularly the Absolute Primogeniture act of 1772 which only allowed a male to succeed to the throne and was in force until 1925. Then we reverted to the primogeniture that the Normans introduced in 1066, male preference. That was changed in 2013 to the eldest child, but of course the queen succeeded to the throne long before in 1952.

It's unlikely to change though since we are internationally known and in many laws as the UK, so intermittently becoming the UQ would confuse. Maybe a compromise when a queen is on the throne would be UK(Q). Much better would be for either gender to be known as king, since most occupations have changed to single terminology. Manager, tailor, teacher, doctor for example, though some gender specific terms like waitress persist.

Honestly, not asking it to be changed!

So how did Victoria sneak in - after 1772 but before 1925?

It would probably make perfect sense for the ruler to be king and their partner queen - regardless the genders (or possible reassignments). Do you think Prince Philip would have liked that?

Here's an interesting development. Russian friends the Chinese have arrested the head of Interpol on corruption charges.

Now the predicted replacement to head up Interpol is a senior interior ministry Russian, Alexander Prokopchuk.

Maybe he'll investigate the Salisbury poisoning. :D

I don't know, followed the laws but never interested in following the family. Perhaps rule bending to avoid embarrassment since we seemed to have become short of suitable successors at times, as witness our German/Greek extended royal family.

Lets see now we had a communist who was so bad his own people arrested him and now we have a Russian Major General to head Interpol.

It makes you wonder if it shouldn't be called "isn't-erpol"

Here's a reminder of why the idea of 'Brexit' is so appealing to a large group of multi-millionaires and billionaires and why they appealed to the base instincts of the lowest life-forms in British society on a race-hate inspired promise, shrouded in lies about the benefits of leaving the EU:

Have you any idea where we are in applying these measures? After all, they should apply for about 90 days next year...

And what happens to any steps which have been taken as of 29/03/2019? That is, if we have done something, will that something continue to apply or be withdrawn/reversed?

WIth the Brexit vote, Trump getting elected and now this - I'm sure I've entered a Twighlight Zone concussion like alternative reality .
The Best way to adapt to this reality is to read the Terry Pratchett Diskworld series.
References to the Patrician's words of Wisdom
Are particularly pertinent to the modus operandi of the following

Donald Trump and Theresa May
"One man one vote and I am that Man

And Interpol's mission statement
If there must be Crime it had better be organised,

Both originated there

Something a little bit odd about freezer space reaching fever pitch, don't you think?

UK running out of food warehouse space as no-deal Brexit fears rise

Owners of storage facilities say demand has reached ‘fever pitch’ since last week’s chaos

Britain is running out of food warehousing space as retailers and manufacturers rush to stockpile amid growing fears of a no-deal Brexit, it has emerged.

Frozen and chilled food warehouses, storing everything from garden peas to half-cooked supermarket bread and cold-store potatoes, are fully booked for the next six months, with customers being turned away, industry representatives said.

I was a Remainer and am still a Remainer . I could never see how Brexit could be a social nor economic success, but accepted it as a vote against austerity by the forgotten population.
But I could have never conceived that it could be the disaster that it has become, even ardent Brexiters talk about damage limitation rather than future optimism.
I wonder if the negotiations should have been negotiated by a non politician neutral such as Adam Boulton, politicians have too many background agendas for it ever to be in the national interest. Barnier seemed to talk for the 27,everyone must have had their individual agenda but they were bright enough to let Barnier get on with it.
KudosDave

Nigel Farage interviewing Arron Banks on LBC – as it happened

Arron Banks, the financial backer of the unofficial Brexit campaign, says there was possibly collusion between Russia and the Trump or Brexit campaigns “at a low level”.

Banks and Wigmore confirm they put the Russian ambassador in London in contact with the Trump transition team. Wigmore says the Russian government was simply unprepared for Trump’s victory.

Former head of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) Nigel Farage was knighted by a young girl at RT studios in London, Friday as part of an RT UK exclusive with Sam Delaney's News Thing.

RT is funded in whole or in part by the Russian Govt.

It's been flaunted in our faces - Yet May insisists in perserving with the madness that is Brexit, and Trump keeps shouting 'Enemy of the People' at any journalist who has the audacity of asking any question relating to the Russian enquiry.

Stop the world I want to get off...

Dominic Raab is making a fool of himself again by stirring up trouble
"“There were certainly dark forces in the commission, which you would hear rumbling that Northern Ireland was the price the U.K. must pay for leaving the EU.” another little nugget of lies was this
"
That’s totally irresponsible & reckless and not something we should give in to. The EU has become incredibly controlling and I think that’s a sign of their insecurity as an organisation.”
And on Marr he described job losses and Chaos after a no deal Brexit as manageable?
He then asks Is that a club you want to be thrown back into the arms of? and then claims that EU regulations are damaging jobs and finally he comes out with the "long term risks are of a debilitating attachment to the EU.

Why on earth was this dunderhead ever given the job of negotiating with the EU?
Even more incredible , why did anyone vote for Brexit in the full and certain knowledge that a Conservative Government would be doing that so called negotiating and then organising the nation's resources and infrastructure to contain the mess they have created?

That's a good question but I suspect if there is still a tory administration that they will abrogate a whole raft of rules, regulations and laws which emanated from Brussels.

A lot of people are going to be very, very sorry that they ever voted leave.

I really believe, and fully accepting that it has been mismanaged by the London side, that the end result would not be much different. ..but we would be at this position perhaps a year ago.

I am intrigued to see what will happen to the mountains of frozen food in the event of a trouble free passage of the current May proposals.

Not many people know this
"The International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-INTERPOL; ... Following Anschluss in 1938, the organization fell under the control of Nazi Germany, ...

Well it is after all called "The international Criminal Police"
