Daile Express Propaganda this morning/
"
Brexit is Britain's 'ONCE in a LIFETIME' chance to fix damage caused by immigration.
Really? I wonder what they mean by that?
Great attempt to cover up once again that the Tory cuts are the real problem.

And from the Guardian
"

Liam Fox: globalisation needs to be championed more vigorously"

Does it indeed? Perhaps he hopes the average Brexit voter fails to understand what it means?
And the fool appears in the Guardian
"

Don’t blame globalisation for poverty
Liam Fox

It's all done with the best intentions. we just have to control corruption according to him.
And brings massive benefits to the poorest people.
Except the massive benefits are always restricted to the very rich of course...

Yes, it was very noticeable on yesterday's TV that the tory propaganda machine had gone into overdrive to give the Brexidiots something to cling to while the muddle continues with no good news from any quarter outside of a few 'august' bodies entirely populated and funded by tories.

I felt embarrassed watching Liar Fox standing in front of TV cameras, lying through his teeth offering nothing new to the watching public 3 months after the referendum. If it were such a great idea, there should be no need for all this shilly-shallying; let's just get on with it and go for a 'hard Brexit'.

Those misguided and gulled into believing the huge lies promulgated by the fascist clowns at the outset, must surely by now be entirely sick of hearing the same old tag lines while nothing is actually happening regarding 'Brexit.

What we now have from Fox is a clear admission of failure to even begin to understand the problem the country faces, and to promote the idea of a hard Brexit as being to our advantage, because he hasn't got a clue as to how to do anything else.
The man needs to be replaced with someone who still believes that something can be salvaged from this impending National Disaster.
As Cromwell said
"
Ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess?
Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation. You were deputed here by the people to get grievances redressed, are yourselves become the greatest grievance.
Go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!"

Incomplete of course, but accurate enough!

It has occurred to me that there are parallels Tony Blair > Gordon Brown and David Cameron > Theresa May.
Tony Blair gave the PM to Gordon Brown with the punitive baggage of the banking crisis,Gordon Brown lasted one year.
David Cameron has given the PM to Theresa May with the difficult baggage of Brexit , I wonder how long Theresa May will last?
KudosDave
Also one year?

Oliver Letwin was on BBC2 yesterday. Is May thinking of replacing Fox?

Nissan sets 'hard Brexit' compensation condition for new UK investment
Nissan wants Britain to pledge compensation for any tax barriers resulting from its decision to leave the European Union, or the Japanese automaker could scrap a potential new investment in the country's biggest car plant, its CEO said on Thursday.

They will receive assurances and there will be glorious headlines in the press.
Then NO MONEY.
After all where is it to come from but Joe Public?

I watched question time last night, the lady playright was about to say the most interesting point in the evening, about Theresa May taking away the democratic right of Parliament by her Royal Prerogative dictatorship when Rod Liddle (Sun journalist looking after his Murdoch job)shouted her down.
The minute anyone mentions this legal action the Leavers go back onto 'the people have spoken' and 'brexit means brexit' rubbish,Even the lady Patel was making sure she kept the Theresa May line.
But at some point the 450 democratically elected MPs who are still largely Remainers will get their voice and Parliament will rightfully decide whether Article 50 is triggered and if so what form Brexit will take.
How much longer can the Brexiters 'tread water' and avoid telling us what their idea of Brexit is? Theresa May and David Davis are very wary of any of our home parliaments being involved in these decisions, because that will be the end of all of them,is that Osborne I see, waiting in the wings with a knife, hehe

I note with interest that Nissan are demanding compensation for any losses incurred by us leaving the EU.
Now this idea has great merit, we, the voters who want to remain in the EU surely have exactly the same right to compensation for any losses.
An online petition seems a great idea :D

Sorry I just had another hysterical Mirth attack, they seem to be coming more often!

Tell them what they want to hear

Big businesses are “angering their consumers” by not listening to the “mood music” over issues like executive pay and workers’ rights, Philip Hammond says today.

In his first newspaper interview since becoming Chancellor, Mr Hammond backs plans to force firms to put workers on boards and clamp down on excessive pay for bosses.

He warns that “demonstrations of popular sentiment” such as the EU referendum vote in the UK and the rise of Donald Trump in America show that voters will no longer accept “irresponsible” business practices."

And then business as usual of course!
And another loose cannon

the idea of 'continental partnership' can be summed up in this
In our proposal, we take those two political constraints [the ECJ and FOM] as given. The relationship between the UK and the EU that we propose would therefore be based on an intergovernmental form of collaboration, with no legal right to free movement for workers but a regime of some controlled labour mobility and a contribution to the EU budget. The goal of the proposal is to create a framework for continued close cooperation, even integration, on matters of common interest.
it's not far from Philip Hammond's own view.

in the absence of any new idea, the brexiters are loud as usual.

However, there seems to be a developing idea of a 'continental partnership', essentially a second ring for EU members which are not keen on further integration.

Trey....isn't that essentially the EU without freedom of movement of people....surely it would be simpler for the EU to restrict people movement?

The government won't give Nissan any compensation otherwise it will open the way for everyone who suffers to get compensated.

that would need a treaty change, can't be done in a hurry. The immediate danger for the EU is Marine Le Pen. Her support group is not unlike Momentum, capable of rocking any boat at next French presidential election (April and May 2017). After Alain Juppe, Le Pen is leading and commands at least 30% of the votes, enough to get her into the second round.
The best way is for the EU to give the UK a special deal, just in case the French get a referendum on frexit.

I think the Le Pens, pere et fille, were always going to be nearly people, a bit like Farage and UKIP.

I believe Alan Juppé has it wrapped up already.

While waiting for us to issue article 50 they are now going after Spain and Portugal the next inline after Greece:

REGI and ECON to debate possible suspension of structural funds for Spain and Portugal with the Commission.

possibly. However, Marine Le Pen is as articulate as Farage and much more guarded in her speeches than her dad or niece Marion Marechal, for that reason, she is even a bigger threat to the EU than Farage.
