Not sure of it's accuracy but this is interesting, if you like this kind of thing:

@oyster - according to that video, the English were driven into Wales long long ago. Sorry.

the guy who suggested a laser gun to shoot down a hypersonic missile does not understand physics.
A railgun, maybe, but certainly not a laser gun, not for another 100 years, even if it's as powerful as those at the US National Ignition Center.
To shoot down a hypersonic object, you need Joules and Watts, not Watts alone.

6) Parties are not banned in the Covid regulations, they have no mention of the word party. Gatherings were banned for various purposes, which could include parties, but the ban on gatherings specifically excludes workplaces. It is a workplace and all present including me were either employed there or had the right to be there in that workplace. Therefore no laws were broken.

N.B. The above facts I've posted previously and they are completely true, but everyone is so keen on the witch hunt they take no notice. Perhaps all should instead do as I've done, read both the Covid laws end to end.
.
A work place is a place where work happens. When a drinking session begins, alcohol is smuggled in, music and dancing commences and a child’s swing is broken as a result of raucous behaviour, it ceases to be a place of work. It transitions into being a venue for a social gathering / party / knees-up.

Indeed, the Russians exhausted the possibilities of laser weapons very long ago, but the stubborn American still think they can get around the physics. Remember Reagan's Star Wars lunacy long ago?

Meanwhile over 6 million people are on hospital waiting lists for years and people who can't afford food queue for over an hour in the winter cold at a food bank, afterwards returning to homes they cannot afford to heat. This when our £3.9 billion aircraft carrier is laughably trying to make China and its largest navy in the world afraid.

But you fret about people having an informal drink and chat in the garden of their workplace.
.
The actual gathering / party is nothing. It’s insignificant.

The big deal is the conduct of people once the story broke. It’s demonstrates an easy willingness to lie and cheat. That’s not acceptable and must be called out & punished.

Nope. Being their place of work it was specifically excluded from the Covid regulations when they arrived for work. Indiscipline during their time there is a matter for their employer, who could of course refer them to the police if any law was broken.

A bit pointless though when the police have rightly said they will not investigate historic breaches of the Covid regulations.

:D. They're politicians !

The description fits most of our Prime Ministers since WW2, with perhaps two honourable exceptions.

And back again on topic ... From the BBC .. Brexit the gift which keeps on giving ....

"Large banks with international operations run from Ireland have seen a huge increase in their Irish balance sheets as a result of Brexit.

A study has found they have grown by as much as €200bn (£167bn) since the UK voted to leave the EU in 2016.

It meant Ireland had the eighth largest international banking sector in the EU at the end of 2020.

It brings the total amount on Irish balance sheets of international banks to €517bn (£432bn).

The findings are contained in a report published on Tuesday.

The Federation of International Banks of Ireland (FIBI) and the Banking and Payments Federation Ireland analysed the contribution made by international banks to the economy in the Republic of Ireland.

The transfers put Ireland in second place behind Germany when it came to the value of assets that were moved from UK to EU banks.

Globally, it pushed Ireland's international banking sector to the 17th biggest.

'Influx of assets'
Fiona Gallagher, chair of FIBI and chief executive of Wells Fargo Bank International, said Ireland was now one of the key EU hubs for international banking and capital markets activity.

"Many UK and global banking groups built-up or established new Irish entities to service EU clients post-Brexit," she said.

"This has seen an influx of new staff, assets, risk management capabilities and investment services activities in Ireland."

Ms Gallagher also pointed out that in many of the lenders, EU branch networks have also been revised.

This has resulted in the transfer of EU branches of UK entities to new EU entities in Ireland.

"International banking operations in Ireland are now acting as a key bridge to servicing the EU market, directly and through its vast EU branch networks," she said.

The research also suggests that another driving factor behind the growth of the international banks sector has been major growth of systemically-important institutions that use their bases in Ireland to service the global and EU market.

The data also shows Ireland is now the eighth largest exporter of financial services in the world and is the fifth largest exporter of financial services in Europe.

the challenge is to aim at and shoot down the hypersonic weapon at very close range, within just 1 to 2 seconds before it detonates and when the weapon is too close to evade.
I have a mate from Uni who works for the MOD - secure comms with missiles - I could ask him what the latest developments are, but if he tells me he'd have to kill me... Someone else I know works on top secret propulsion systems, but asking him anything would get me flagged. There are too many secrets in the world for the naive idle curious

Show me where in the two Covid regulations that Office Parties are forbidden in law.

They are not, all workplaces are specifically excluded from that gatherings law.
