The trouble is volumes of both production and market. Modern sweet manufacturing is mass production on a huge scale, so it's best aggregated in such as China, or if within the EU, where the mass market and low manufacturing costs coincide.
.
That Polish chocolate you get from LIDL is quite nice apparently, well the white stuff is that I eat. Not to sure I fancy Chinese sweeties though, at least with a takeaway you can be sure the heat from a Wok will kill off any covid drifting around, same with a nice Ruby.

Bendicks (of Mayfair of course) used to be made in Winchester, now in Poland I believe.
Bendicks were bought by, IIRC, a German company many years ago. Bendicks bought up the genuine Winchester chocolate makers shop - Tyler's - and closed them down. It was only a single small shop on Jewry Street. Never understood why they did that - nor whether it was before or after the German buy.

I'm losing track of the ever changing rules

This struck me as odd - esp. the exemptions....

New rules in force from today make it illegal to have sex at home with someone who you don't live with.

This is what you need to know.

What do the new rules mean?
The rules mean that people in England are not allowed to socialise with anyone in a private, indoor space with anyone they do not live with.
Previously, a person visiting someone's home for sex would have been the one in breach of the measures - but the rule change now means that both people would be breaking the law.

What about public places?
It is already illegal to have sex in a public place, and the rules surrounding this remain unchanged.
Who does the ban not apply to?
The new legislation doesn't apply to the following people;
  • Sports professionals
  • People attending funerals
  • Vulnerable persons fleeing a risk of violence
  • Carers
  • Those with unavoidable work commitments
  • Those moving home
  • Those people who need to get medical assistance
The mind boggles

In this specific context, what constitutes sex?

I get the impression BJ is trying to move everyone on now from talking about the virus but if Sharma has got Covid then its going to prove difficult for him to do that.
His response to Starmer, just seen, where he blusters that the track and trace was in place on the first of June, but he ignored the actual allegation, which was really that it isn't world-beating. In fact, it seems to be rubbish.

Rees Mogg is doing his utmost to get Parliament full to brimming - A bit like football starting again and surprise surprise players are testing positive... I think the strategy is that hospitals have spare capacity so let's start filling em.

I'm rather hoping that it is all tories who get ill. So opposition votes really can be carried - whether to defeat a government motion or push their own through.

Trouble is, about the only thing they have shown themselves really rather accomplished at is, you've guessed, coming down with covid-19.

It really is incredible that so many of these idiots are catching coronavirus. There really isn’t any excuse. To the watching world, this country must look like a clown show.

All you have to do is take a "Black lives matter" placard wherever you go, and it gives you immunity against the virus and any lockdown rules. The police know this, so they won't bother you. I had one in London today and it proved to be extremely effective. It even works for BAME people, even though they're at higher risk of infection and police brutality.

I think there were some police there, who were unaware of or had forgotten that (maybe new recruits), so when they got a bit lippy, the crowd threw a load of bottles and punches at them, which must have reminded them what they were told in their morning briefing because after that they (police) got down on one knee and apologised. Maybe that's something to think about if they give you any hassle.

I've just been watching Newsnight and at the start of the programme they had a graphic showing an astonishing statistic. Todays daily death toll for the UK was 359, the total daily death toll for all 27 countries in the EU was 314. How on earth can we be easing up on lockdown rules when our daily death toll is higher than all these 27 countries added together?
