Sometimes people are not blessed with a name that is a career advantage

"Dick Braine quits as Ukip leader after less than three months. Such a pity, such a perfect name for the leader

A snippet from the debate on the GE bill in the house of lords
"Lady Smith continued: "It's (a general election) about the vision for the direction of this country, and the Conservative Party will have to stand on its record."

It's going to be noisy
With them all wearing safety crampons

Johnson got too excited and spat mad nonsense. Corbyn got too excited and stuttered like a mad fish.

Both lost on points at PMQs.

Winner by a big head was Jess Phillips
Not really. Johnson did the tory soundbite thing "leadership...", "leadership", "time of protest is over" questioning Corbyn's leadership. Shades of may's "strong and stable" I thought. Quite heartening really. Following brexit I realize the electorate are not sharp crayons, but as may found out to her cost, they do not like being blatantly patronised. Corbyn did "the nhs is on the table in a us trade deal" as part of changing the subject from brexit. That may yet have some traction

You are thick. It’s ok.

You don’t see nuance. It’s ok.

It’s not your job. Your job is to source food from food banks and fill your broods bellies.

That’s cool.

Johnson is a ‘blunt crayon’ Corbyn is a much ‘blunter crayon’

He could have hammered home where exactly are Johnson’s new hospitals being built. He had six questions. He couldn’t land a glove.

Jess Phillips destroyed him with one question from the back bench.

It just shows how easy it is.

Corbyn is the worst. Literally the worst.

I will vote for him but I despair that is my option.

I wish I just worked in a factory. Already had my my house. Was as thick as you and brain damaged as Gerald and could just be happy with what is my lot.

I wish I wasn’t so knowledgeably brilliant. .

paradoxically bots spouting fake news to distract from what actually happen can be useful. For the benefit of human contributors phillips asked a dreary question about supersized school classes...

I can agree with that.

BTW, talking about sharp crayons, did anyone watch Stephen Sackur interviewing Gina Miller on Hard Talk last night?

meanwhile, JC used his time on PMQ to read out the email he received from a Labour voter called 'Gillian'. I wonder how many of us noticed anything JC said.

In the Telegraph this morning
"
Brexit Party could help Tories in general election by not fighting hundreds of seats
One senior Brexit Party MEP suggested the party could field as few as 20 candidates, while other sources suggested the figure would be nearer 100.

There was more in the Express
"
The party leader has furthered mystery around his election plans after a cryptic message from the Brexit Party told all candidates on Wednesday: “Important: Please all go DARK on social media.

“DO NOT respond to any questions about where we are standing, what the strategy or plan is from now on.

“Things will be made clear very soon.”

Translated: The Monkeys are requested not to rattle their tins till the Organ Grinder has decided on the tune.

I wonder how prospective candidates feel at the prospect of being discarded by their owner like that?
They had a chance at a shot of the lucrative number of being an MP, and he's ditching them?

Dead in a ditch.
No ifs, no buts, the U.K. will leave the EU on 31/10/2019
We are leaving.
There can be no delay.
Do or die.
Kick the can and we kick the bucket.
Come what may.
In all circumstances.

These are just a few of Johnson’s lies which immediately sprang to mind. There are others.

So today is reckoning day, do or die day, kick the can and we kick the bucket day. We’ve certainly not left, so what is Johnson’s explanation? How is he going to find a pathway out of those watertight promises listed above? Those same promises which took him to the top job of Prime Minister. Well it goes along the lines of, a big boy made me do it, and now he’s run off, which enjoys similar credible to, the dog ate my homework.

With the above in mind, and the fact that those promises got him the job of Prime Minister, I was expecting a ferocious attack on Johnson from our newspapers, probing questions and doubts cast on his credibility, but all I am seeing is attacks on Corbyn for delaying Brexit and more quotes from Johnson promising us a bright future! Hang on a minute, what about the other promises concerning ditches, cans and dying?

Why can’t people see they are being “played” by these newspapers? They aren’t fit to be used as arse-wipe, so as a means of informing people, they are highly dangerous.

Who owns all the right wing newspapers?
They do what they are told by their owners.

Its a sad reflection on times and perturbingly for all, especially so for us on here who have followed, argued, disagreed and thought about situation when the choice at next GE essentially falls between Johnson and Corbyn.
Yes, we can try and blame right wing newspapers: their owners and a flawed referendum but actually it goes beyond that. Wether we believe propoganda from anywhere, Russian bots, EU, Papers, Facebook or Twitter is irrelevant when the system only gives us the choice of folk mentioned. Both would be viewed inappropriate at more normal times because both are.
I, m not even giving lib dems a thought let alone a vote.
Havent a clue who to support. Thought Sarah Champion was really good but the fool sacked her from meaningful post. I still dont even know where Labour stand on Brexit, their other policies will be idealist nonsense. And Tories are led by a Baffoon. Brilliant. What a choice.
Come back Blair, all is forgiven, well it would be after he, d served his time, in an HMP not HoL. Its quite ridiculous. Fact vessel keeps sailing along with entire bridge in disarray and wannabe captains fighting over the wheel is a credit to crew, the normal folk doing their jobs.

At this election, I want to vote Plaid Cymru. But possibly not if that lets Crabb back in.

It occurs to me that you are one of the last Brexit supporters standing on this forum. I have crossed over to remain and it sounds like fingers has too, but probably for different reasons. I was just wondering, who is your Brexit leader now? Who are you backing to deliver the Brexit you want, whatever that may be?

Not really 50.I gave up on Brexit months ago. I play devils advocate to the posturing by some on here very often. Its probably a year since I said given choice again I, d vote, albeit reluctantly, to remain.
In an ideal world I, d leave. Its proven we are far from an ideal society.
My grumble has for months been the indecision, not the failing to deliver Brexit.
I cant suport ERG, for obvious reasons Boris simply wants to be PM and will adopt any policy, idealism going to keep Tories in no10 and him at helm.
But likewise Corbyn is a disaster. Swinson is unelectable. (as is LibDem movement)
There really isnt a viable, worthy candidate or Party.
As for Corbyn being slandered by propoganda, I agree. He has been, only thing is he writes his own and calls it a manifesto. Honestly, their last one was unbelievable crap.
