'Time to back our PM' Jeremy Hunt hails May's Brexit deal after being named Foreign Sec
JEREMY Hunt has vowed to help deliver a successful Brexit after being appointed Foreign Secretary following Boris Johnson's shock resignation.

Well, as Boris proved, it's not a real job is it?

I have been watching a QT style debate on Victoria Derbyshire this morning. It seems that public opinion is a little more sympathetic toward second referendum than before.
May Brexit not happen?

a comment posted on the DT today:

"What a ridiculous world.

The Left of the Labour Party is likely to ally with the Right of the Conservative party, which could undermine all the hard-won social gains of the EU and 'F*** business'.

Do any of these clowns know what they're doing or why?"

The stark truth is that the only legislation for the last forty years worthy of note has either been originated in the EU, or we have suggested it and they gone along with it.
This Parliament of ours has no experience of running the country without someone else holding their hand or preventing their excesses.
Where this Parliament has originated legislation, it's track record doesn't even equate with lamentably bad.
As I said early on in the thread, if we locked the houses of parliament and threw away the key, we would be infinitely better off coasting along in the EU using their rules and regulations.
All our home grown politicians do is make a pigs ear of everything they come into contact with.
What is the biggest fault with the idea of Brexit?
No one in this country is capable of governing it even inside the EU.
Outside only disaster awaits.

the call for a second referendum is gaining attention because of the current parliament arithmetic: there is no majority for any form of brexit.

no, just arithmetic. At least six factions will vote tactically in parliament: even if the SNP and LibDems vote together, you still have Con and Con right + DUP, Lab left and Lab. They would rather vote down anything they don't like so if you have 6 choices of brexit, you get one faction to support it, 5 against. The chance that 4 factions out of 6 vote for any one brexit is tiny.

Clearly, May is unable to control her party and cannot be viewed as a safe pair of hands, able to lead the nation. What does it take to get rid of these hateful people whose sole concern is self-aggrandisement?
I don't think JC would do any better under the same circumstance.

You can imagine a situation in which a general election has returned a remain government and the brexiteers would still be claiming WillOfThePeople.
I don't pay much attention to that kind of argument because if voters can't change their mind then it's not democracy.
