After 5 years of use the bottle battery ( labelled Burisch Powercell 36v 9ah) has given up the ghost .. I have ordered a replacement from China but in the meantime I am bikeless . I had a look at re-celling but the companies I looked at dont work on the bottle types ..

can anyone recommend any company that will do the work?
secondly is re-celling something I could do myself ( or is there a reason why nobody wants to touch them? )

any advice appreciated .

I presume you have tried this lot - they did my old one and seemed very good

There used to be an ebike shop in York that did it - they would also analyse the cells first or something

As far as a DIY job - I wouldn't because I am a wimp when it comes to electronic (plus my hand shakes at times which is a problem soldering!!!) and Lithium batteries can be dangerous if they are connected wrongly or they short.
If you are good with electrical stuff then maybe it could be done??

Maybe you could find a dead one on ebay or something and take it apart and see

It's a lot cheaper to buy a complete replacement than to get one re-celled.

It wasn't when I had it done - although that was a while ago and not a bottle battery
it also allowed me to increase the capacity and the quality of the cells

It may be worth getting a quote first

The Burisch has a separate controller, so you can use any type of downtube battery you want with any capacity you want and with any cells you want.

A factory made battery will always be cheaper than a re-celled one.

The type of bottle battery on the Burisch is not very waterproof. Modern alternatives are much better.
