Bosch motor in a frame designed for Shimano

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've done some googling but can't find the answer.... I hope that someone can help.

I am looking into the possibility of moving all of the bit from my current hard tail ebike to a full sus.

Could I put my current Bosch motor in a frame designed for a Shimano motor?

thanks

Simon

There is a long tradition in motorcycles of putting an engine from one manufacturer in the frame of another, famously Triumph engines in a Norton feather bed frame. Lovely.

Though I believe a fair bit of engineering skill was involved.

Anything is possible if you have the fabricating skills, but it's not going to be plug and play. You really need the Shimano frame and Bosch motor side by side to see how much work is involved. Getting hold of the bare frame could be tricky and expensive.
