Hi there,

I am very curious about increasing the torque of my bike. I have just bought Moustache Friday 28.1 with Bosch Active Line Plus motor. I am very happy with that for sure but I guess I need a bit more torque than 50Nm.

Is there any way to increase the torque at least from 50Nm to 60nM? Such as like Performance line CX, there revealed an update to increase more 10Nm torque.

Well, I would be really appreciate if you suggest anything to do about this.

In advance, thank you all.

Enjoy your ride!

No is the answer to that question, you could de- restrict the 15.5 mph cut off but that would make the bike illegal and render the warranty void. Ps it is a really nice looking bike.

Thanks mate. I love this bike.

Actually I am not talking about unlocking the speed limit but I am talking about increasing the torque. Unlocking speed limit is not legal, that's true.

The answer is still no regarding torque, I used to have a Carrera with the ALP motor and found it fine around the hills in the Peak District until I was seduced by a great deal on a Specialized Creo which has only 35Nm but weighs less than 14kg.

Yes, you can increase torque to anything you want by changing the gearing. The motor makes a fixed torque, but it's the gearing that determines how much torque you get at the back wheel. How many teeth on your chainwheel, and how many on your bottom gear?

Ok so a yes and no answer, you can't change the torque the motor makes but changing gearing would slightly alter the torque at the back wheel.

10 teeths. But I wanna increase motor's torque actually not with maximising teeths.

the bosch system is locked in at the factory so there is no way to up the torque not even a dealer can do it.

all you can do is change the gear ratio and stick a dongle on it but removing the speed limit wont climb hills any faster.

Torque is the force F applied at a distance R from the fulcrum... Fxd usually Newton metres . Fulcrum point of rotation or axle.
When the wheel has rotated 1 revolution it has moved the force a distance of 2pi R and the work done is 2pi R F Joules .
If it does this rotation in 1second the Power is 2pi RF Watts..
This is what the motor is producing at the crank.
Using gears with different teeth on the front and back, we can trade rotational speed for torque , while still consuming the same power in watts. For example if we have 40teeth on the front and 10at the back, then the rotation of the backwheel is 4 times faster revs per second than the front cog. .. but the torque is 4times less.

The back wheel tyre will stall the rear wheel, if the retarding friction force of the road ..ie the torque at this point on the circumference exceeds the torque available. .. and this is the torque as measured at the radius of the back wheel ..not the one applied at the hub cog
.So it actually does all come back to motor power. ..in watts.
The Bosch motor will adjust its speeds and its torque depending on the loads it sees. The Active line is about 50Nm max.
