Probably have to order direct fron Germany (no big deal - approx 70 euro postage)

even though illegal on the road here, 50 cycles get away with selling S class Kalkhoff bikes ..so maybe someone will import them here eventually....

oddly A to B on there run down on e bikes, have in big red letters NOT LEGAL ON THE ROAD (or word to that effect) on bikes like the Aurora and others.... but absolutely nothing about the fast class Kalkhoff's! Hypocritical or what!

Probably this? Easy enough to spot as they have a number plate holder on the rear rack!

Thanks eddieo, that's not bad, I'm hoping to get an 11-speed Alfine model though, that's if someone out there makes one?

So can you register a bike at the dealers in the same way a moped would be registered, or are we not geared up for that sort of thing here in the UK?

We dont have a high speed e bike class so no its not that easy I believe.....

You may be able to get an SVA test on one...I'm not sure. But cant imagine how you would go about getting it insured. Why a high speed bike? they are not cheap....around 3k. Plenty of e bikes around that do between 15 -20 mph and stay under the radar of legislation.......is that not enough?

Assisted to 20 mph is fine for me. SVA which is now IVA is in the region of £500 on a kit car these days, so I certainly wouldn't want to have to do that.
3K is too steep for me, given that your almost perfect KTM was circa £1800? I'll be wanting to pay no more than 2K for my bosch 45, perhaps I'll be out of luck.

The KTM 29er (250 watt) is around £2300 with alfine 11. But you are not going to get a high speed e bike for 2k unless you pick up a used Kalkhoff.

I am sure a fix will arrive to derestrict the 250 watt Bosch..but people will probably wait till out of warranty before tinkering!lol

Oop's Apologies....... found article again (AtoB bike price list) and my mistake, they do actually say the Kalkhoff S class are illegal (in red;))

Mmmm...seems as If at least one of the Kalkhoff S class Bosch bikes is looking reasonable value @ 2.799 = approx £2400

that should have linked to new Kalkhoff bikes on urban biking:confused:

Lets try again..direcr to Kalkhof with prices.

Kalkhoff : 2012

both the 2 new Pro connect S class are Bosch for next year. If it is anything like the 250 but not the abrupt cut off it will be a superb bike. BUT range would be about 20 miles I would think on full power so 2 batteries would be needed by a lot of people I guess....

I see, they will be running both Bosch and Panasonic alongside each other, here's the 1000 euro more expensive(!) Panasonic version:

Only one of those Pro Connects uses the Panasonic motor unit and only two the Bosch unit. The other seven Pro Connects will not use either of those.

I've seen this list before, my memory is terrible these days so I'll stick it in this thread for anyone else looking for a Bosch powered bike
