Hi there,
Just to sum up a few things..
The Bosch diagnostics kit is mainly used in the event of a problem.
It can obviously store, show and clear error codes. (Makes a problem easy to fix for us dealers)
Its also used to update the software, calibration changes etc etc.
It can also be used to run off a report of any bosch system (good for any new owners to obtain a report from a dealer as to the true history of the ebike)
The report that is run off is split into a number of factors.
Its split into sections.. Bike data, Motor, Battery, HMI etc etc.
It lists all the normal bits like, date of manufacture, model ID, software version, firmware version, battery capacity, battery usage, hours used, voltage, temperature etc etc.
Interestingly it also has a top speed parameter within this report... BUUUUT remember the way the dongle works.. it halves the speed sensor signal output. Therefore the system is still logging the same speed etc.
When pedaling the Bosch system (with the dongle plugged in) you have to double the speed shown on the display to gain a true mph reading. For example if you were actually doing 30mph the system would still only be logging 15mph.
Hope that answers it??
Oh and yes the 2012 system mph can only be changed with the diagnostics kit. Unlike the 2013 which can be changed by the end user as David has already said above.
