I've been using and recommending BMSBattery for quite a long time now and have had many successful orders from them. We've always known the risks, but I just want to remind people of what can happen.

A friend wanted to convert his disc brake bike with a 250w front motor. He wanted a Bafang, but I didn't see any Bafang motors for disc on their site so I e-mailed them to check if they had any left over.

Here's the reply from Judy Liu:
"Hi,

SWXU motor is disc brake , not V-brake. Thanks."

I wasn't sure about this, so on my order I wrote "Please make sure the motor is for disk brake"

The motor came and as you've guessed, it wasn't for disc brake.

I e-mailed them to see what they could do and this is the final reply:
"Hi,

The motor you ordered 36V250W Front SWXU Motor E-Bike Kit with LED Meter - customized is V-brake, not Disc Brake.

So we have sent the motor as you ordered. Thanks."

As you can see, if they make a mistake it's tough luck on you.

Yep as you say there are risks.

As when I ordered my first Tongxins and ended up with ones with rollerbrake fittings. Despite numerous emails before ordering I still didn't get what I wanted.

I was lucky as the thread went the whole way down the shaft and I was able to take the motor apart cutoff the excess casing and shorten the shaft.

Also always worth ordering two of everything as sending back failed units is not an option either.

Regards

Jerry

This is why I ended up buying one from Kudo's.
With the current price hike in China / Magnets and labour. Plus the exchange rate it actually worked out the same price after the shipping to buy from the UK.

However you only have certain suppleirs that offer decent none rip off prices.

Lets hope they continue to supply great legal motors.

Sorry to hear about your experience this time Dave. But i'm sure you've managed to save enough pennies to take the hit on this one ;-)
Maybe you can stroke monkey it within a build...

Hi dv8eh - I assume you paid via Paypal or credit card? If so raise a paypal dispute or claim with your credit card provider for a refund.
