Black Forest

Just back from holiday which included a few days walking in the Black Forest near Freiburg. Just out of season but it was noticeable how many electric bikes were around - mainly mid drives of varying makes. I couldn't examine them too closely or my wife might have become suspicious that I was taking more interest in the young ladies who were riding some of them. Very few cycle helmets in use by the way. In Germany they sell 2 million e bikes per year most of them good quality European models.
UK in contrast only manages sell only 150,000 ebikes per year mostly imported models.

Here in Austria where it is a little bit bumpy I see loads of mainly Bosch motored bikes, numbers have exploded in the last 5 or so years. Never seen a Chinese one in the mountains but do see odd ones down by the river Inn.
